While the store is a lovely space, and I'm very excited to have a Warhammer store in Springfield, it only gets 1 star because it is closed so frequently that I have not been able to shop there for several months. It seems that every time I am able to swing by (weekends only due to my work schedule), they are unexpectedly closed. Multiple people in my friend group have experienced similar problems.
According to the Facebook page, this store is listed as temporarily closed. You have to actually expand the About section to see that. After contacting the corporate office about the excessively frequent closures during stated business hours, I was informed of the temporary closure and instructed to call the store to see if it was open before making the trip to visit it so that I don't waste my time finding a locked door and trying to figure out if this is just a long lunch break for the employee or if the store just won't be open again at all that day.
If, like me, you show up and find it closed, there are other stores nearby that I would highly recommend. Titan in Springfield is a great store with knowledgeable staff, and you can pre-order sets from them as well. The Hidden Lair in Mt. Zion has an absolutely astounding selection of 40K and Sigmar sets, a clearance rack, and more painting supplies than you'll ever need. Gopher Games in Urbana is building up their already impressive collection of Warhammer boxes in addition to used models available for purchase, has a lovely play area on the top floor (and looks to be expanding into themed play rooms?), and they have army carrying cases and foam inserts available for purchase in-store.
If you are able to find this store open, then congratulations! It really is a nice space, and there are supposed to be weekly classes on painting and playing. They have a kiosk that you can browse if the model that you want isn't in stock, and the store is conveniently located next to a Schnucks Grocery for all of your game night...

Plenty of amazingly painted models to get your inspiration flowing or to give you that little push you need to get some awesome models of your own. The stock of models, paints, and other tabletop gaming supplies is top notch and organized well. Great place to join the...
Read moreSuch a nice store and very nice people. When we walked in the first time and I was so afraid to touch any of the models and the gentleman working there could read that and told me with a big smile to touch any model I want, pick em up and play with them if I wanted to. We were in that store for at least 30 minutes just chatting and enjoying ourselves. Very inclusive and...
