Fun to shop & browse... but it isn't just that.

Hidden Treasures is so much more than just another "thrift" store. It's a place of love/faith/community, one of ACTIVE hands/bodies in action/motion/being of living thru & by faith, where you do not have to be to belong.

I found out by reading thru their website eons ago in regards to their mission & work, where redemption is encouraged, that despite difficulties & challenges that people may face, especially in regards to recovery, this is a place that is loved by not only the shoppers, but people within the organization. Every so often, I'll go to the U of M ReUse Center first, before going to Hidden Treasures, simply to go pick up anything free there if available (in good condition) to haul over to this little store.

I've been going for years, 6+ years now, it's the books that draws me in the most... but moreso, it's the people who year after year, I can see it in their faces, their speech, & energy how life just keeps getting better & better; love & hope emanates from not only the people, but the space itself. I cannot recommend them enough nor can I ever stop asking/telling people, if you donate, do so with Hidden Treasures. 🙌

Also, many folks who are there, both customers & staff greets me with the biggest warmest smiles & kindness I've learned always just seems to exist there. Sometimes I admittedly do make my way across town just to go visit, joke, & chat with folks along with never having actually ever left there, not even once without a cart load of goodies between cookware to fine china & everything in between.

I adore these folks & this store & their organization along with practicing what they preach & just loving others to help those who seek them to help them find redemption after getting lost....

First off, Hidden Treasures has been my favorite thrift store for a long time. It’s the only place I shop and the only place I donate. Though it isn’t very close to our house, I feel donating there is worth it because I support their cause. Today, however, I had about 8 large boxes of homeschool and craft supplies. The gentleman was clearly annoyed by the number of boxes I was donating, and told me I’d have to stand there while he went through it to make sure he could take any of it. He gave me back 3 boxes of homeschool curriculum and supplies, and then started giving me the craft supplies back. When I questioned him he got annoyed and said they couldn’t sell any of it. This was boxes of new stickers, brand new bags of felt, Stampin’Up stamps that were barely used, so many homeschool teacher resources and books. He started just throwing things in the trash while I stood there. Hundreds and hundreds of dollars of things were in these boxes, that I chose to donate rather than sell, and he was standing there throwing it away in front of my face. It makes me sick to think that I could have given these items to a school or community center, instead he stood there and threw it in the trash. I really couldn’t believe it. Sadly, I will be finding a new place to...

I definitely found a treasure but someone else took my treasure home even after I paid! I’m so flabbergasted. I was only going down the street to get a bigger truck so we could move our items with ease. We found a super nice recliner. I was in awe and it was so comfortable, very decent and clean. It was pricier than the other items but I had to pay right there and then. I told the guy at the counter I’ll be coming back in 15-30minutes so we can get a truck, only a few minutes away. We left and came back a few minutes later and guess what? RECLINER GONE! I mean come ooonnnnn. I really thought it was a joke because how does that happen? How do you forget the lady with the red hair that just asked you a bunch of questions on how the store works and just bought a recliner?? It was just a few minutes ago too! And he said he forgot to put the SOLD sign. That’s an intricate part of this process and you just FORGOT??

Then the other items they didn’t help us move it in a convenient area. I had to move their other couches around and maneuver through the store. What if I accidentally broke something? I didn’t need them to take it to the car but to at least help clear some space so we could do it ourselves. This was not the greatest experience...
