07/03/15 = First I must say that I have no affiliation with this store other than being a very satisfied customer.
Once again our visit to this gourmet shop was a unique culinary experience. It's sort of like a treasure hunt, you just don't know what you'll find there from week to week. For a small specialty store it has a wide variety of spices, pastas, and cooking goodies. We purchased some, St. Croix Curry, Siracha Sea Salt, El Dorado Mesquite Sea Salt, Premium Bourbon Maple Syrup, Fire Roasted Garlic Honey Mustard, and several loaves of their fresh and tasty $2.00 per loaf specialty bread. How can you go wrong? Every time my wife and I go there it's like a special treat that we can indulge in. We browse the spices, vinegars, oils, pastas, sauces, sweets, breads...as well as shoot the bull with the knowledgeable owner and staff. They make you feel welcome and appreciated.
IMHO, we need to support these small privately owned specialty stores or we'll have nothing but the big corporate "box stores" to shop in. I prefer having a choice...and I choose to support both. After all, isn't variety the spice of life? Hey! I think they may sell that at...
Read moreI’ve stopped in Curiouser Foods many times to explore their spices, specialty pastas, sauces, soup mixes, and oils/vinegars. The staff are always friendly and helpful. Recently they’ve included a bulk spice & herbs section with harder to find herbs and sea salts, which I really like. A wonderful spot if you like making your own teas or herbal blends. Local cookbooks, mushroom grow kits, and more specialty items to explore when you stop in.
For the cafe: I had a sandwich for the first time the other day and it was absolutely delicious! Tomato Mozzarella Caprese with Greens… so good. The tomatoes & greens were fresh and tasty and there was generous mozzarella. The bread was divine. My sandwich came with a bag of chips and I ordered a ginger beer. Highly recommend stopping in for an affordable, from scratch sandwich. They also offer soup and a few...
Read moreI'm actually surprised to see that there isn't many other lower rated reviews. Before going into Annona Gourmet, I heard how crabby the owner was but how absolutely amazing the vinegars and oils are. I thought to give this place a try. The owner lived up to her reputation and was very rude - not only to me, but to other customers and her one employee. Even after spending a good amount of money there, the owner still had a negative attitude. As someone that works in customer service, I can't imagine being that crabby to any customer (even on my worst day). The products are delicious, but I will never want to give her my...
