This was the absolute WORST Chinese food I've ever had in my life. I write this as I sit in the parking lot in front of Great Dragon because the sooner I write this the more people I can spare. First of all, I walked in and paid for a buffet takeout box $9.39. That was more than I wanted to spend but I figured it WAS dinnertime at 4:30. Then when I saw the buffet itself, I was tempted to get my $ back right away cause the rice and noodles were burnt at the bottom. They must've had the warmers turned up too high. Then, the rest of the meat and veggies were nearly gone and dried and crusted to the pans. The sauces had gross films over them and I could tell the food had been sitting a long time. One of the workers came out and told me fresh food was coming in 2 minutes, though, so I stuck around. Sure enough, fresh food came very quickly so I started to fill my box. When I got to my car I started to take a few bites cause I was STARVING. Well, the only good thing in there was the egg roll. The rest was disgusting! The fried rice tasted like it had tons of butter, the white rice was dry and had hard grains in it, the chicken had WAYYYY too much cooking wine and the noodles were just plain salty. The rice noodles were bland and tasted like cardboard. The breaded chicken was soggy and mushy. I will not give this place a 2nd chance. The only remotely redeemable thing about this place is that the cashier was polite and gave me a refund without trouble when I explained my dissatisfaction. I dont like to give bad reviews to businesses but this place was...
Read moreStaff were kind and generous when I showed up about 30 minutes before the lunch buffet closed down at 2:00 pm on a Sunday. I suggest getting there around 1:00 pm or earlier for a better selection. Nevertheless, the food was tasty, the staff was very nice, and I don't really care about atmosphere, so the lack of music and strip-mall vibes didn't affect my rating. I'll have to go back to make sure it's consistent, but when I ate there (my first time visiting), they had perhaps the best teriyaki chicken I've had at any buffet that's still operational in the greater twin cities area, and I've been to almost all of them. Most of the food was average to slightly above average, but some of it was surprisingly very good, and I got the impression someone in the kitchen really cared about the food they were putting out. I will definitely be back, and I would definitely recommend it. Plus, lunch buffet price of about ten dollars beats everywhere else I know of in the twin cities by about thirty or forty percent, so the value is kind of unbeatable if you're as into cheap, tasty, strip-mall Chinese buffets as I am. Definitely worth...
Read moreBest in STA. I lived in St. Anthony for over 20 years and I don't have to hesitate in naming the Great Dragon as the best restaurant in St Anthony. They have the best cream cheese wantons of any buffet in the Twin Cities. Their sesame/general's chicken is perfect (especially ordered fresh. the buffet isn't huge but everything is good and they keep fresh. My favorite is the Special chicken which is not on the menu last i checked but its usually in the buffet and you can order it. the lunch special is generous and under $5. I love Chinese food (even lived in China) and there are lots of great places in Minneapolis the NE suburbs but for the price and location you cant beat the...
