Belk Outlet — Local services in St. Marys

I know with the age of technology and online shopping department stores are starting to become obsolete, but sometimes it’s nice to actually see and try on the clothes you pick out. I decided to visit this Belk in St. Marys because I had a work assignment near. The store is pretty old but well kept. There isn’t a ton of other clothing stores near. I guess the Belk is still kicking because Kingsland has an active military community with a lot of military wives.

I decided to browse the different clothing areas. A lot of the clothes are geared for the older lady, but they also have a few areas that can be good for a younger lady. I found a few work out shirts and some other random clothing item for 50% off. The cashier also found me an additional 30% off which was super nice. I enjoyed the store because I actually found of few items that I didn’t really think I needed, but it was nice to have. Went in for the deals and left after being berated and embarrassed by the man checking me out because I didn’t open a store credit card. Spent about $350 and the manager or associate became so irate that I didn’t want to APPLY for a store credit card, he got visibly upset and changed prices on my items, asserting NOTHING was eligible for return or exchange. Coerced debt is a crime, the CFPB AND FTC take these situations very seriously. I told the man NO, I do not want this card three times, I don’t need to give a reason- but- I did. Regardless if the reason is legitimate or not, it is STILL a crime to pressure, coerce or even continually ask someone about a credit card; after the initial response is NO. Sunday April 14, 2024 12noon No surprise that the quality of merchandise was below par. Items priced at $60 with a 75% off sticker was only worthy of the $15 to begin with. What always gets me is the sales people have no customer service training whatsoever. This store opened at 11 on a Sunday so the employees can’t say they had a long hard day. When we arrived at noon I saw one lady walk out and no cars in the parking lot so one would assume it wasn’t busy. We walked in three lady employees were engaged in conversation that kept them from acknowledging us until I had a question.
