I have an old BMW that I was looking to get its stereo upgraded and to get a back up camera installed so I went to my local Best Buy to have them install it. Long story short after being scheduled a whole month out, I went in and their installers looked at my car for not even 10 minutes and told me they could not do it. They called it a “12 hour difficult job” and “impossible to bypass the amp unless I upgrade all my car’s existing speakers.” They told me that I could still get a rear view camera in my car if I bought a rear view mirror dash cam with a rear view camera. So I did that, scheduled with them, and three weeks later their tech said “I cannot do this, I do not know the wiring of this car and I do not want to mess anything up.”

This had been the second time I had to deal with their nonsense and I was so over it. I looked up car radio installers in my area and I found this shop as a result, went in after my bad experience with Best Buy, spoke to Andre, the owner, and he was very understanding, honest, and professional throughout the consultation. He told me he could install both the stereo and backup camera in my car so I took a leap of faith and set up an appointment to get the job done.

Installation Day comes, I dropped my car off and after about four hours later, my car got a stereo upgrade and a backup camera! Andre did an immaculate job and he was even able to put my Apple CarPlay plug in besides my stereo without having to take away the only cigarette lighter in my car. I was so thrilled with the results and Andre even took his time to explain the features of my new stereo and answered any questions or concerns I had. He is very committed to making sure his customers are satisfied with his work and he shows that with his stellar work results. There are times when, despite good intentions by both the customer and the business and without anyone’s fault, things just don’t go right. This is when the true character of the business and its owners/managers shows. Unparalleled Audio shone bright! They dealt with a difficult situation with class, dignity and a 100% customer-centric approach. Briefly, I wanted to add an after-market module to my OEM system (2017 Highlander) so that I could have Apple Carplay. After some research, Ben and Andre found a third-party product from Grom called V-line. They performed a flawless installation, however, the module simple didn’t work as it was supposed to. As of this writing, Grom had not agreed to accept the module back and give Unparalleled Audio a refund. Despite this, Andre and Ben worked with me; they went the extra mile. They refunded me the cost of both the V-line as well as the labor cost. I was so impressed by their response and attitude that I purchased a new Kenwood stereo which would work for my Highlander from another company but brought it to Unparalleled Audio to do the install. Last month, my Toyota Tundra needed the door-lock actuator replaced in each of it's four four doors; it's one of the rare chronic problems with Tundras (and some other Toyota models).

Labor cost is based, in large part, on the time required to perform the repair. The costly labor aspect of my repair was the time needed to disassemble and then reassemble each of the four door panels, not the in-between aspects of disconnecting & unmounting the door-lock actuator followed by mounting & connecting the new unit.

A general mechanic can disassemble and then reassemble door panels, of course, but typically has not had much practice doing so, which means more time would be needed (at higher cost). By contrast, car stereo installers routinely do this. Also, car stereo installers routinely uninstall and reinstall electromechanical devices, namely speakers. A door-lock actuator is merely another example of an electromechanical device.

While Andre and Ben previously had not replaced door-lock actuators (about which they were forthright), they agreed with my logic that their skill set was well-suited for tackling my repair. And they did an excellent job at a very reasonable price. I'm very pleased!
