I am giving them 3 stars because I know they can do better. I tried the Southern Cali and the avocado toast and was not impressed. The southern Cali was fine but I was expecting more. Let me tell you about the avocado toast… the first time I picked the order up we realized they forgot the avocado. Pretty big thing to forget on an avocado toast but ok things happen no biggy. They made it again and when I picked up the remade order I realized that the bread they used was not focaccia bread as is advertised on their menu. So I asked about this and they indeed confirmed it was not focaccia. It appeared to be a single slice of Dave’s killer multigrain bread you can pick up from the local grocery store. In fact it seems like all the ingredients were picked up from the local grocery store that morning. Thankfully, the staff took that item off our order and was generous enough to let us keep this simulacrum. While eating the Southern Cali we dissected the avocado toast and after removing a mountain of arugula we realized the bread wasn’t even toasted. They tried to sell us a single slice of multigrain bread (not toasted) minus avocado for $17! For that price you better have the best in all of Northern Va. If not and you are lacking the key ingredients someone needs to make a command decision and 86 that joint from the menu....
Read moreI had the "Best Day Ever" french toast dish which on the sweet side of their menu. The dish is described as a Challah bread french toast stuffed with cannoli filling with orange zest, topped with strawberries and chocolate. As you can see by the image that is not at all what I received or expected. There was no orange zest and the cannoli filling had chocolate chips in it. The entire dish was deconstructed due to complaints of the dish from customers, which is why I think this item needs to go back to the drawing board. I loved the flavors and everything tasted good when I assembled all the toppings together but that's not what I wanted. I wanted to taste the dish as the chef intended and described in the menu, not the deconstructed version of what upset customers had created. The Challah bread as french toast was amazing and the Cannoli was interesting on it's own but when placed in between the slices of bread I wasn't sure where to place the chocolate syrup or the strawberries. Either way I sandwiched it all together and it was okay. But again, it's not as described in the menu. I will say this, this dish is extremely filling if you like it as it. And yes I did it all, I also needed a...
Read moreMeh. Beautiful inside. Overpriced and underwhelming.
10 dollars for a dark meat chicken sandwich with no sides.
9 dollars for corned beef "hash" that was really a bowl of chopped frozen potatoes with a few bits of overcooked meat cubes mixed in with one egg on top... and no biscuit... How is biscuit in your name.. and a biscuit not come with every breakfast dish.. Except the biscuit sandwiches?
If you want a biscuit they are 4 dollars?!
Our son had a plain waffle that was pretty flavorless, like everything else we had.
Our order took 25 minutes. I know "hand crafted takes time" .. But several parties that ordered after us left before us will full orders of food. I'm fine waiting, but seeing others served before you is annoying.
I know its October... and I love Halloween... but maybe during brunch when families with children are in the restaurant... Don't show American Horror Story on the big screen. There are plenty of Halloween movies to show to keep the Halloween vibe during the day that won't leave kids with mightmares. Judge the room.
The space is beautiful and very clean. They wiped down the tables after each party left. Two large outdoor tents for...
