Don’t waste your time or money. Booked, on line, for a fall train ride on a coach train. Paid $45.00 for 3 of us. Three days before our scheduled ride, received a phone call stating it would be an open air car. Ok fine. Checked weather and it was going to be in the 70’s so we decided to still go. We were offered to change to the Halloween or Christmas train ride but we wanted to do the fall foliage one and not have a bunch of kids around. We get there and everyone is nice. We wait outside to board “train.” To our shock, it was not even a train. Some kind of a car with seats installed. It was noisy and uncomfortable to say the least. It was an awful experience. We have a 26 year old autistic son who loves trains. I cried because it was such a disappointment. Don’t know how they can charge so much and classify it as a “train ride.” I understand they are all volunteers but don’t lie and say it’s a train ride. Wish I could complain and...
Read moreA fun ride! Went with my wife yesterday and we had such a good time. The volunteers put in so much of their time and make it such an enjoyable experience. Everyone is kind and really cares about the train preservation. The one con is that the train ride is a bit short. I did a bit of research online and saw that the train rode all the way to New Freedom until the early 2000’s when there was a derailment. They told us yesterday that they are trying to fix the tracks to get the train running to New Freedom again, but that it would take years. I wish a portion or whole of the train track was repurposed into a bike trail to connect with the NCR trail. I ride my bike by road to the Shrewsbury Park and Ride and it’s a bit dangerous. This train track runs through it and would be so much safer to bike on.
Regardless, the Stewartstown Railroad is wonderfully preserved and is a fun experience, even though it is...
Read moreWe had such a great time on the villains express train! The lady’s did such a fabulous job with the witch sisters characters! They did such a wonderful job I felt like I was the movie! Sadly the train ride is only about 2 miles long but that is because the rest of the tracks are in need of repair and is being done by volunteers. They do have work days if you want to volunteer. The crew is very friendly and enthusiastic! I will definitely be back and I fully recommend them and please consider donating or volunteering if you can! You can can support by riding! I know this may sound like I am being paid for this review but I am not. I am just a train lover that’s wants to see them bring this railroad back to life! So much...
