I think most would agree we go to a brewery for the beer and a second consideration would be the food. The Aviator brewery offers a small selection of Aviator beer. Beer from Yards, New Trails, Ottos, etc. are also offered. Seemed like more beer from other breweries than Aviator. Wine, cider, and soda are available at the self-serve wall in addition to beer. I get it… you want to be able to offer a variety. But you are a brewery. This was my first experience with a self-serve pour wall. I hope this is not a sign of the future. Yeah, you can read a small description of the beer, but where is the person behind the bar that can carry on a conversation, talk about the product, make suggestions, promote YOUR beer? I am not a germaphobe, but having all the glassware self-serve and a row of taps that every person has access to makes me wonder how sanitary this set up is. Where have that person’s hands been prior to reaching for a glass off a shelf full of glasses, touching multiple glasses in the process? How often are the taps sanitized? I would assume the idea behind self-serve is fewer employees, which makes this subject even more important. The food menu is small, and that is OK. When you order an item and are told we do not have that today, so you order something else and are told we do not have that today, that is not OK. Based on my experience, the beer and food are pricey. All beverages are priced by the ounce. Our 16oz beers were in the range of $7 to $8 as best I can recall the per ounce prices. The pulled pork sandwich, which was not on the menu, was served on a small burger bun with a bag of chips and an order of French fries were $16. I have an idea the pulled pork was from the day prior as there was a BBQ food truck on site the day before also. I am not a tightwad; I am comparing this experience with other brewery experiences I have had in the area. I was expecting a more...
Read moreAt first, not what you would expect from a brew pub. Mainly just a hostess with a few people serving food. Order food at the hostess stand. BUTTTTTTT...... It is a self serve beer wall! Let me explain, goto the hostess, she explains the process, gives you a card, and off you go! Want 2oz of this? Ew... next! 2oz of that? Omg! Mug please! First time at a self serve beer wall was fantastic! Tried all the beers and ciders without having to wait on staff. All prices per oz (although you think it's more expensive but really it's not) was great. The card you use also tells you what your tab is as you go so you can keep track, which is great for people on a budget (oh I'm broke let's go with $.38 an oz tonight!) Food was spot on. Probably one of the best mac and cheese dishes I've had so far. Amazing rib eye sandwich with, I think, a horseradish sauce was phenomenal, and the Ruben perogis were awesome! Got to talk to the owner, David, about the entire experience was absolutely amazing! Thanks again and hope to be back to see what comes in the future!
10 out of 10 would recommend stopping here!
The blackberry was one of the best beers...
Read moreNice to see the old Station House turn into something. Reno is nicely done, clean bathrooms. No real food, but thats ok. Not a fan of the pour wall, seems like a germ transporter. Unfortunately the beers are pretty bad. I figured without a real brewhouse it would taste like extract homebrew and that is in fact the case. The “NE IPA” was harsh on the pallet, oxidized and almost had a whiff of enteric. The Lager was strongly under attenuated and diacetyl was present. Across the board the beers were dull and lacking crispness. While unsuspecting locals may not know the beer quality is bad, for craft enthusiasts in 2023, at the arguable height of craft beer in America, this is a real disappointment. This is really just an strip mall style joint thats trying to cash in on the brewery trend. With a world class destination brewery like South County not 20 mins away, places like this will have to step it up significantly. Another unfortunate detractor was the Chuckie cheese level of unrestrained children sprinting around screaming, which was unsurprising for the...
