UPDATE 2 (take one star away): Just when I thought this parish was at least halfway decent as far as reverence for a Novus Ordo (I much prefer the Traditional Latin Mass).
I came here for the 12pm Mass last Sunday (First Sunday of Advent) and the first thing I noticed were these two girls in the sanctuary with their electric keyboard, a violin, and a harp. As beautiful as those instruments can sound, the electric keyboard should not be in the Mass, much less inside the Sanctuary. The Sanctuary is "sacred ground"! Only the priest and altar boys belong in the sanctuary during Mass, not a music band! Not even a proper choir! Neither the cantor nor any choir nor the organist are to be seen during the Mass, much less inside the Sanctuary. The Mass should not be distracted by a music band up in the Sanctuary which is sacred ground where the Sacrifice of Jesus is taking place.
I was very disappointed seeing that at this parish. I don't always come to this parish for Mass. My parish is Saint John Cantius Church. This parish and my parish are night and day. I don't know how long these two girls have been playing in the sanctuary for Mass. The last time I came to St. Albert for their 12pm Mass, there was no music band in the Sanctuary, only an organ and a cantor who were not seen. I'm hoping that this band in the Sanctuary was a one time thing, but I doubt it. I wouldn't stand one more Mass if they're going to be there on the regular. UPDATE 1: I haven't been in this church in over 3 years. I just went to Mass here and the first thing I noticed was the new altar rails! How awesome is that? Thank you! Thank you for adding the communion rails! It's not one long continous rail but that's okay. There are a few small ones around the sanctuary. That's good enough and I'm happy about them being there! Even if the communion rail was not there, I would still receive communion on my knees. I asked a parishioner how long the altar rails have been there. He told me it's been about 2 years now. That's a very good change! The Polish people there are so faithful and they are generous with their donations. So are the Hispanics there.
The Mass I attended was a Spanish Mass. I could go to any of their Masses though, even the Polish one. A Mass is a Mass. Anyway, one of the good things about the Spanish Mass here is that there are no guitars, no tambourines, no rock band. Just a good cantor and an organ! Thank you God! There is a priest who gives good homilies and his Masses are as reverent as a Novus Ordo can be in this church. There are also many Masses in this parish which gives people choices as to which time is best for them...
Read moreThe church is very nice, we held a rememberance mass there for a loved one and paid a hefty donation for the music and father and when it was time for someone to read the readings of the Liturgy of the Word, the father was upset because we didn’t have anyone to read them and made comments about him having to do everything and how he should be tipped at least… afterwards he basically kicked us out handing us our photo and flowers so we can head out… on a sad day like that it wasnt the...
Read morejesus would have never wanted a church to be so fixated on separating his children the way this church does, there’s a clear bias that makes many people like myself feel unwelcome. i believe a church should welcome everyone, including people who believe in the rights of women. this church has done nothing but promote anti-abortion messages and create an eyesore for the community. branding us as this primitive town of outdated mindsets. it’s 2024, it’s not your old...
