Deleite Mexican Cuisine & Ice Cream — Restaurant in Stickney Township

I stopped by to try this place and was immediately greeted with an attitude. It seemed like I interrupted the woman who was cleaning, and she clearly wasn't thrilled to serve me. I ordered tacos, but what I got was disappointing—just meat mixed with chunks of fat and nerve. It felt more like eating a cross between tacos de asada and menudo.

As a professional cook at a fine dining restaurant, I could tell what happened: instead of cleaning the griddle properly after cooking the meat, they scraped off the leftover bits and mixed them back into the next order. That’s lazy and unappetizing. Word of advice—either clean the griddle at the end of the day or throw those scrappings out. Better yet, hire someone who actually knows how to cook.

Gave them $10 bill for a $4 elote at a taco truck. Lady took the $10 put inside a pouch and gave me back a $1 bill from that pouch. After I asked how much the elote was, she said $4, and I said, I gave you a $10. She insisted I gave her a $5 and grabbed a $5 bill from the side of her counter instead of the pouch she put the $10 in.

If you’re going to steal, don’t make it obvious. She thought I wasn’t paying attention to her as I gave her the $10. I wasn’t going to argue over $5 in a public place with people waiting to order food. She proceeded to try and gaslight me about the money after I asked.

I only had a $100 and $10 in my wallet, imagine if I had handed her over a larger bill.

I decided to try this place out and I have to say that I am very impressed. Besides Mexican snacks and ice cream, they offer authentic Mexican food. I tried the tacos al pastor and tripa. My husband had a costilla dinner (both shown in the pictures). My kids had steak tacos. Everything was very good. Honestly I have to admit their al pastor tacos are one of the best I've had. They have very good flavor and they are definitely worth the price, since they are big. The owners and their staff are very friendly and always checked if we needed anything.
