My friends and I ordered Tom kha soup ( with coconut milk) garlic chicken, Mongolian beef. Soup had no coconut milk, chicken had no garlic or any other flavor it was floating in soy sauce water and Mongolian beef was definitely not Mongolian beef it was something else and had no taste. Chicken was worst than all. So we asked the owner to take the chicken and if he can substitute it with fried rice so he called his wife who happens to be the chef and she refused to do that. Talked to us very rudely and she denied that her food tasted bad. She said she tried the food and it tastes fine and she blamed us that our taste buds are bad. Not going there again for sure. And the owner and the so called chef didn’t care if they loose our business. I would’ve give no stars but didn’t have choice had to give one to write a review.
My second review
After having bad experience few years back I gave them one more chance. But I made a mistake. When you enter restaurant is dark. Most of the ceiling lights either not working or not turned on. Seems like everything is dumped there.
The guy who serves is also the owner.
We ordered Tom kha soup, Mongolian beef, garlic chicken and vegetable basil fried rice.
We ordered soup to have it first but after waiting for 20-25 mins got fried rice. When we asked him what about soup and other food he said his wife is still cooking that. We said but how will we eat fried rice without the rest of the food he just snatched the rice from the table rudely and left. When soup came it was not Tom kha and was very very sour. When we asked him why soup tastes so sour he again just snatched the soup from our table. He is extremely rude. He cannot take any negative feedback. Even the chicken and beef were very chewy. Same sauce was used to make garlic chicken and Mongolian beef. Fried rice was better than other stuff.
His wife shouldn’t cook anymore. And If they want to be in business, they should improve the food and...
Read moreHad my monthly Union meeting so needed a spot to have dinner before go to meeting. Looked up some Thi/Lao places near our meeting area. I stumbled across this, since I'm Laotian, so wanted to see how it was. Decent size dining area. It was just me and 4 other guest in restaurant, so for me it was very nice. Not very noisy just overhear the party next to me conversation, but able to drown them out. Lots of variety to choose from and I decided to try their Beef Larb, Crab Rangoon, and then their Thai Boat. I didn't know what that was, server explained it and once he said like a Pho, I was hooked. The Crab Rangoon came and they were on the tiny side compared to what I'm ise to and how they were made. It's not the shape of how most Crab Rangoon you typically see. I was bummed at first sight, but man once you take a bit, somehow that tiny little Rangoon, hard to explain, the taste was bigger than your eyes see. It really shocked me how good it was. The Thai Boat came out and that looked as good as it tasted. The Beef Larb came out last. You could tell this was freshly hand made, not like it was pre-made and they just scooped it out to serve. It was very good, I know they used an extra ingredient that I'm really not used to. Think fermented fish was added into it. That took a bit to get used to. It was still delicious. Price point was decent, it is within reason. Hand cooked that that tasted like home cooking is worth the price for me. Just to hear the words "sticky rice" when they asked if I wanted rice and gave me my rice options.
I definitely recommend this place to give a try. They have a good amount of food on their menu. Also if into gaming, they have few slot machines to play, they have own area...
Read moreIt's not very often you find a place like this. The food is great don't get me wrong but what impressed me the most was the service. I stay at the extended stay right down the street so I walked and as soon as I walked in the door it started pouring down rain. I was going to call a cab but the delivery guy insisted he give me a ride no charge! The owner and all the employees were super helpful and really made for a pleasant experience. I never review places, apps, or anything for that matter, but this place was so worth it. I can't say enough about the people that are there.
Also, this was my first experience with Thai food. I've never tried it and wasn't sure what to expect but the server there told me all about it and made it clear right off the bat what I was going to be getting. They tell you how hot it will be and their description is very accurate. If you don't like it hot they will not make it hot. If you do like it hot, well be prepared to have fire shooting out of your ears because they can definitely make it hot for you. I ordered a mild dish and it was the right amount of hot for me.
Plus another great thing is that everyone there speaks excellent English which normally has nothing to do with anything but it makes communication so much easier. I just really loved this place and if you're ever in town you will probably see me there because this is my new favorite restaurant in Chicago. Try it and you will not be...
