I tried to rent ski boots here and it was a nightmare. When I said they were too tight the employee renting them stated they were supposed to be like that. The employee helping me was named Joe. I tried to ski in them and ended up losing all circulation from my calves down. When I tried to size up, he started to complain about my base layer and socks. So I went and switched my socks and put on a thinner baselayer. He proceeded to try and shove my feet into the boots and say that I should purchase boots since calves are so large and just rent skis. Then when I tried to return them he said I had used them for 4 hours and asked if it was the shops fault they didnât fit. I had them for 2 hours and for a majority I was trying to do what he suggested to make them fit better. I am not sure we got a full refund but I will be contacting the shop if I donât. He then stated these were the widest ski boots on the market. I went to the Stratton village rental and they were wonderful. Theyâre were only $10 more. I had some very specific needs given I have weakness on one side of my body and Stephanie tirelessly helped me ensure the fit was right. I had to come back multiple times as I was understanding the fit of the boots on the slopes and every time she listened to what I was feeling inside the boot and proactively found solutions to improve the fit.
In the end we found the right setting after molding the liner to my foot to give my toes just enough space and adding a heel lift that would help me the weakness on the foot and preventing from going on my toes too much which had previously hurt my toes.
