John agreed to make my bracelet 1 month before Christmas of 2022 and my husband gave John Charles a deposit. There was always an excuse why the bracelet wasn't finished within the week as promised. First, John told me that the mold broke then he told me that the mold was to be replaced but he didn't know when. I waited indefinitely for the new mold to arrive. I spoke to Dorothy, John's manager at least a dozen times between Christmas and July 1st of 2023. Dorothy continually promised me that the bracelet would be finished in a matter of days. Days turned into months and if I had not intervened months would've turned into years. At one point, Dorothy said that I would receive $100 off of the finished product because of my time & patience. There was always some reason why the bracelet could not be completed. It should be noted that nobody from this jewelry store even called me. I always initiated the calls. Messages left on the store's message machine were NEVER returned. In essence, I waited nine months for my Christmas present from my husband. In the end, On Aug, 1, 2023, after all my patience with this company I finally decided I couldn't wait any longer and asked John for a refund. Not only did John deny he told Dorothy to give me a discount but instead of John apologizing he actually got snotty with me calling me "sweetheart" in a sarcastic manner and HUNG up the phone on me. I don't know if a refund is being processed, I have to wait and see but I do know this; if anybody should've been snotty it is I. I have been more than patient with this store. TERRIBLE, TERRIBLE EXPERIENCE. John did say twice that he did not charge me enough. Delayed on purpose because he was not making enough money????

Let me start by saying that John is a very nice guy. He is attentive, kind, and does make an effort to listen to your wishes. I think he makes fine jewelry in his own style; however, if you are seeking a custom ring with anything beyond the normal (pointed prongs, unique setting), I would advise you check out other places.

My fiancé took our diamonds to John Charles who walked us through a customization process. We wanted a 3 stone, trellis setting. John assured us the timeline and design was no problem at all and did communicate with us during the entire process. Once my fiancé got the ring back we immediately noticed issues. Primarily an entire prong on the trellis was broken, stones were loose, prongs were not touching, and many thin sections from improper setting which made the rings structural integrity bad (see pictures). John of course took the ring back to repair. On top of the actual issues with the setting the ring size was entirely too large. When we went back the second time, we walked through all the issues with John, who again was very kind and listened, we emphasized that the ring needed to be resized and even used his ring sizer to get the right size. 2 whole months later we finally have the ring back in possession. It is the same size it was when we took it in, literally not changed at all. While this time there are no loose stones there are still prongs which do not touch the ring. He first created a picture, then a wax sample, before creating the actual piece...making sure at every step that it was exactly what I wanted. He even found exact matches for some unusual-colored antique rubies when I didnt have enough for the ring I wanted to make. Finally, he was able to remove the metals that made it yellow gold to give me the white gold I wanted! There is no limit to the talented craftsmanship of this exceptional jeweler!
