The ownership is the previous ownership of India Palace in Stuart (closed) and Taj Indian in Port St. Lucie. We stopped by for lunch and had the non-vegetarian thali which is a small divided tray with white rice, a tandoori chicken drumstick, half naan, chicken dish, salad, vegetable dish, and a chick pea dish. The chicken dish and vegetable dish is different everyday. Today they had chicken tikka masala and eggplant/potato curry. The thali also came with desert and todays desert was rice pudding. We also ordered the samosa chaat. The food flavor was actually very good. Most Indian dishes are eaten with rice or naan and in this thali did not have enough rice or naan to the proportion of curry. We ended up ordering 3 additional naan for which we were charged $5 per naan. The most upscale Indian restaurants in New York City don’t charge $5 per naan??? Our server was also very poor. Not once did he return to check on us or to refill our drinks. Although we have an Indian heritage, we were being reverse discriminated as he was putting more of an emphasis on the American customers. We had to call him and and ask for refills and also had to ask for boxes. We were finally given our rice pudding desert and unfortunately was basically sugar milk with boiled rice. The most disappointing thing was when we received our check. Everything we ordered was marked up by 1 or 2 dollars. When I asked why the prices were different, the waiter said the higher prices were due to the Covid pandemic and they could not update the prices on the menu. I found this very disturbing as many restaurants are now putting their menus on their website and putting QR codes on the tables so that the customers can scan the code and view the menu online. With this method the restaurant doesn’t have to change their menu or even have menus since the customers can view the menu online. The cost to change prices online is very minimal. I am a believer that for a restaurant to be successful the most important thing is that the food has to taste good. For the most part the food was good. Unfortunately, I doubt if I will return due to the poor service and...
Read moreMy husband tried the lunch thali a few weeks ago and raved about it. So, last night we went there for dinner. It was a mixed bag.
We arrived for dinner around 6:45 pm and left around 9:15 pm. They take their time with serving dinner — which we did not mind. They had run out of several of the dishes we originally wanted (biryani, chaat). We asked the owner if they serve the chole batura for dinner. She said she would serve it for a dinner price (lunch price is $12). We also ordered some keema samosas, Madras lamb, butter chicken, mango lassi, masala chai and Madras coffee.
The best dish was the chole batura followed by the Madras lamb. The mango lassi was also delicious.
I thought the up-charge, dinner price for the chole batura was too much ($22 for a bowl of garbanzos cooked in tomato sauce). The Madras lamb was nice but a little too pungent (we chose a 5 for pungency on a scale of 1-10). So I asked for a little yogurt to soothe my burning palate. They sent out the equivalent of 3 tablespoons and charged us $5 for it. The butter chicken was awful. The samosas were okay. The so-called masala tea and Madras coffee were awful too. Too milky (not enough tea/coffee) and too large of a serving (like soup bowls). Our server recommended we drink these at the end of our meals. Given that Indian meals are heavy, I suggest that a beverage served at the end of a heavy Indian meal be offered in smaller servings and at more reasonable prices. Finally, an inflation fee of $3 was tacked on to our bill apparently because the menus have not been updated to reflect new inflation rates. Our dinner for 3 with tip came to $120. A little too pricey for an overall...
Read moreHusband and I were trying to decide on what to eat one night and randomly decided to go with Indian food since we rarely order that cuisine. We decided to go with Bolly Twist even though it was further away from the restaurant we usually go to and I’m so glad we did. I was blown away by the amazing food we ordered at Bolly twist! We ordered the chicken tikka masala and the mango curry chicken and the chicken in both dishes was extremely tender and flavorful. The meals came with a good amount of rice so we had leftovers for the next day. We asked for level 2 spice which I admit was a little bit on the spicier side but that didn’t stop us from eating the entire meal. We also ordered the garlic naan and gulab jamun for dessert - both of which were delicious. This time we had take out and when I picked up the order the gentleman at the front was very kind and had the food ready to go. The atmosphere seemed very clean and nice - there were several tables of guests dining there as well. I ordered this food last weekend and my husband and I are dreaming of ordering again very soon. Next time we will dine in to get the full experience which I already know will be 10/10 just...
