I was a longtime Cellcom customer and never had a single issue with their service as a pay as you go customer with an older phone but since buying a new phone and getting on a "plan" this past February with my wife we have been consistently frustrated by the terrible phone service and customer service.
The initial problem was the cell service - we get dropped calls throughout Door County and in Sturgeon Bay even when we are calling friends just down the street and it has gotten to a point where we hardly use our phones since it is embarrassing and difficult to constantly have to call people back or when the call breaks up having to ask them to repeat what they said. This issue has also applied to sending and receiving text messages many of which will not go through or we will receive late, as well as being able to access the internet (sometimes there will just be no mobile service even in our backyard in town). The irony is I had a "worse" phone and never had any of these issues before even though I am operating in the exact same geographic locations.
This has led into the customer service problem. It started with the hidden fees where I had bills tagged onto my phone plan that were never explained to me and led to a number of phone calls with customer service to get to the bottom of them. We were also told that our phones were free and paid for when we initially signed up for the plan only to find out that they deduct the money each month meaning we are locked into the phone for two years or otherwise have to pay the difference (something that was completely omitted from the conversation we had with the sales rep and instead he reassured us they were free and there was no contract commitment). I am not sure if it is a lack of training or a sales technique to manipulate customers but either way we feel like we were scammed. The last thing that pushed me to write this review is that after my most recent call to corporate customer service to help solve our phone issues and seek clarification about our issues with customer service I received a "directory assistance" charge on my phone bill, meaning they charged me for their inability to do their job and deliver their service. This is completely backwards and a sure way to lose customers. I am looking forward to the day I can get rid of our phones and...
