Hi there. Thank you for taking the time to listen to my review... My wife and I went to Sturgeon Bay for the first time on our 3 year anniversary, March 7th, 2015. We had a great time! Hong Kong Buffet was on our list to check out. The first time we went there everything was great! Food was fresh, people were friendly and we were destined to come back in the future eventually. Just 2 days ago, April 18th, we went back and took the kids this time as well. We were quite surprised to find not enough tongs in the buffet. There were probably 3 or 4 missing and when I confronted the lady that worked there, she didn't know what I meant, and I said well, I'd like this item, but there's no tongs to pick the food up. And she said OH, ah! And takes the tongs from some other food and puts it into the one I wanted. She said, you use same tong. No worries. Yeah, well, to me, that's pretty unprofessional. The second thing I'd like to add is, the food was NOT fresh this time. It tasted petrified, like it sat there all day from being too overly cooked. Not just one item, but several. It was not delightful as the first time we went. So then I complained. The lady probably didn't understand what I was saying because all she said was, no, we just switched from lunch to dinner. I was simply trying to tell her we should receive a discount or some compensation for our terrible experience. Then she said, no, food not hard. It's fresh! And I even asked my kids in front of her if they thought the food was hard and terrible and they said yes and shook their head. Then someone else came in, the lady was distracted and I just told her that's fine, we're not going to come back. Here's your full payment, goodbye. The place was clean, the people are friendly, but this 2nd time, food was hard...

It smelled as if some food was left out and forgot to be thrown away (I've been in asian markets, and it's not the standard fishy smell from a place like that). I got the fried rice, lo-mein, a variety of chicken, Mongolian beef crab rangoons, donuts, and water. It was just after dinner time, and most of the food looked fresh, but the first bite of rice determined that was a lie. The rice was hard and stale as if it had been undercooked and left too long. The Mongolian beef was undercooked. The crab rangoons were small and flavorless. I sent the entire plate back and, at the end, had to remind them I sent my food back as they still tried to charge $14+ for the 4 bites of food I had. A previous review mentioned the water, and it does indeed have a weird flavor. My partner tried the shrimp and some sort of scallop ball, and he did not like much of what he got. His sprite was also at the end of the flavor the cartridge needed to be changed. The food was all lacking flavor, most was old, and an absolute skip,...
Read moreMy wife and I have ordered takeout here numerous times, and everytime, they absolutely crush the competition. You know you are in for some good chinese food when it comes in the plastic bags with the smiley face on it, ha! Prices are exceptional, and we order from them every other week or so. We often order any combination of Honey Chicken, Orange Chicken, General Tso's Chicken, Mongolian Beef, Kung Pao Chicken, all the soups, and several appetizers. Every time has been hot, delicious, great value for the portions, huge portions, and authentic to what you would expect from a chinese takeout/buffet.
I am not sure what other people giving 1 stars are expecting but you have to go in with a grain of salt in a small town chinese buffet, this isn't going to be downtown Chicago. Some Reviewers make me laugh.
The ladies who work at the Front Desk speak broken English but they are super nice, and are very friendly!
We will continue to be back, and are so happy Hong Kong Buffet exists in Sturgeon Bay!...
