Tri-City Nails — Local services in Sunrise

I’ve been going back and forth on whether I should post this review or not because there were some positives, but honestly the negatives outweighed them. I’ll first start with the positives.

I came in January 22nd for the first time with my 2 daughters (9 and 13) for 2 fills, 3 gel manicures + pedicures and 2 eyebrows waxes. We were serviced immediately, we experienced absolutely no wait. They were professional and I noticed the older gentleman doing my youngest daughter’s nails being extremely gentle and patient with her. Our nails came out nice, but they were simple nails (square shorties 1 Bubble Bath, 1 Funny Bunny Acrylic Powder and 1 Gel French Manicure with Gel Pedicures to match).

Everything looked okay until I took a closer look within the next couple days. I noticed the next day that the tail of my left eyebrows was nearly gone, my daughter’s was okay (hers were done by the older woman). Then 2 days later all 3 of our nails began to chip and peel. I was extremely disappointed.

Side Note: I noticed they weren’t allowing the UV light to finish curing the nails between each coat, it would only cure for 30 seconds at most. That’s probably why the nails chip and peel.

I’m a Flight Attendant so having peeling nails is not professional and removing gel requires soaking in acetone so it isn’t a quick layover fix. Returning is also inconvenient because I am out of the state/country days at a time.

I Zelled $275 (25% tip because of the no wait time and the gentleness with my 9 year old), and an additional $12 for my oldest daughter’s eyebrows (20% tip only because she forgot to add it). I usually tip 20%, 15% if the service is mediocre. I don’t believe in not tipping.

I also try to avoid leaving bad reviews or returning to return, exchange etc… because most places don’t care about customer loyalty. I’m an avid review reader so I noticed some reviews about chipping nails within a few days before I went. I was hoping it was just the customer being a little rough with her nails or just a one off thing, but it’s clear it’s the establishments practices. I also noticed management responses that seemed argumentative so it deterred me from returning.

Unfortunately, I will not be returning and my only advice to anyone looking to try this place is to make sure your nails are cured for 60 second between coats to avoid chipping and peeling within days and don’t get your eyebrows waxed here.

Note: They only take cash or CashApp, Zelle etc… I guess to avoid people from disputing the...

I use to come here about 3 years ago. The guy Dan was amazing.Humble, kind with excellent work. Now there is new staff. Cute but horrible job or products 🤷🏽‍♀️ I been there 2x - Only! first time the lady did my nails—They were alright-When I tell u😳…they popped off light press on w/ cheap glue-Sloppy work.. She seemed more concerned with taking a pick. I came back 2nd visit and explained to them that I need 3 repairs and a fill. They asked over and over what do I want. I kept telling them the same thang. Also I wanted a pedicure. I told them if they didn’t have time for both to do my nails and I can come back they next day. They said no problem we will do both at the same time. It was 6:03pm they close at 7pm. So I get the pedicure. No one was doing my nails. When I was done they sent me to the guy. He did 3 repairs and was putting the stuff away. I said to him I wanted the other nails filled. He said sorry I don’t have time. I said I can’t walk out with 3 new nails and the rest look old. He said I been waiting for 20 mins for you and I was told only to repair 3 nails. He gave me such a nasty attitude. So he did the fill after talking to the ladies. It was sloppy with so much attitude. .I apologize and tipped. He just got up and said next time you need to come on time. I was so offended.I will never return there again. 5/26/21 - UPDATE So I noticed it has been two years since this review i posted... and i just wanted to come back and say THIS WILL ALWAYS BE MY SPOT. Let me tell you what, the nails I see them do while I'm there waiting - are all beautiful and done to the best of their abilities to give the girls the designs they want I'm telling you I SEE IT. I have never in all the time I've been coming here seen anyone leave unsatisfied. Today for example, I needed to get my eyebrows waxed so i used my lunch hour at work to do it ask me if I care about the fact that I work all the way by Ikea / 595 and they're on Sunrise Blvd. and Sunset Strip. There are no other hands I want touching my eyebrows other than Cathy or Amy. Seriously , go when you have time because there are those moments where they ARE BUSY and you will be waiting . If you don't want to wait go another day, if you do I swear it is well worth it.
