Okie's Butcher Shop — Local services in Surf City

Well… I’m going to start this off by saying, this place needs an attitude adjustment. Came Home After getting a 6 ounce I would say filet mignon. They seran wrapped it and then the kid owner I really don’t know was not wearing any gloves… the meats didn’t look to be in a clean matter honestly. I was shocked with what I’ve heard of the place. Anyway. The next day the meat turned brown. I called and the person who picked up said well as long as it’s not green …. 👀 I couldn’t believe the response but due to air and stuff meat does turn brown but I never had a nice piece of filet turn brown that quick… it was odd to me. I feel my experience isn’t differnt then a few others so I don’t feel so bad leaving this honest review. I will not be going back. Sad to say but I’ll take my buisness to ACME...

This is a great butcher shop, meat market, and deli! The meat quality is fantastic, as is the price. Okie's staff is always friendly and polite when I am there. Living in Surf City on Summer weekends, I am usually there once or twice a weekend. They make phenomenal hoagies and sandwiches as well. Their house roast beef is fantastic, really first-class. Of course their sirloin ground beef is just the best you can get! I have also purchased their beef kabobs a few times and they usually contain strip, sirloin, or even filet meat! The close slaw, potato, and macaroni salad is also not to be overlooked. Additionally, they have a great selection of bakery-delivered fresh goods daily. Try the biscuits and bialys....exquisite. Okie's is a gem on Long Beach Island and I am fortunate to have it...

As a year-round resident of LBI, my second favorite day of the year is when Okie’s opens for the season (my favorite day is when the traffic signals start blinking). No longer will I have to fight traffic when I’m looking for the highest quality meats, prepared foods, or sandwiches.

While I’ve always thoroughly enjoyed anything brought home from Okie’s, I became a devoted acolyte after catering a block party with one of their whole roasted pigs. The pig was cooked to perfection as evidenced by the way it was devoured by my neighbors.
