My review is specific to the nykamping custom process. I had four quilts from my grandmother and engaged Elijah to create everyday wearables to honor her legacy & memory for me and my family. He was incredibly thoughtful, listened as we worked through the types of pieces I was interested in, certain styles I gravitated towards, and captured detailed notes. This was all reflected in the final jackets, crewnecks, vests, and bags - 14 pieces were created in all! I had the ability to accept or decline any or all. My experience at nykamping was absolutely tremendous! He was able to make me a custom quilt jacket from a quilt I inherited. I get asked about it all the dang time!! I seriously need to start carrying business cards for this man because I get stopped so many times people asking where I got it or if I made it. I Truley couldn’t craft such a gorgeous piece if I tried. The energy when you walk into his store is beyond peaceful. He puts his heart and soul into each and every article of clothing he makes. It doesn’t feel like you’re walking into a store in suttons bay.. it feels like you’re walking into an experience, a very colorful, warm, & embracing experience. I purchased this gorgeous emerald green top from Elijah 2 or so years ago now and it’s still one of my favorite pieces to pull out when the weather starts to get warmer (and into those early Fall days!). The cut and drape of the top is so comfortable and I love that this piece came from a repurposed piece of fabric that may have otherwise eventually ended up in a landfill! I appreciate Elijah’s craftsmanship and this piece was purchased at a lower price point due to perceived imperfections (as a fellow perfectionist, I get it AND it is still perfect in my eyes).
