Bottom Line: I'm never giving this place my money again, and I'm sorry I ever did.
Edit: I've been duped. Took the time to place a pre-order in-store for my birthday. This was a week in advance, the morning that they opened pre-orders for these items. The day before official release I was told my order had not arrived, and yet the store had stock of the items I had already paid them money for to put on the shelves... I was told I could possibly get the items I paid for if there were some leftover at the end of the day. I asked about canceling the order and giving me my money back.. so that I could buy the items from the store shelf on release day (read: giving my refunded money immediately back to him), Brian, the super-kind employee you can read about below, became so rude and passive-aggressive I did not want to waste the gas to see his face. I called GW support and they told me I could get a voucher for the amount (because I paid in-store), but THE STORE SHOULD BE FULFILLING MY PRE-ORDER WITH ITS SHELF STOCK. You know, the common-sense thing that any business that cares the tiniest bit about their customers.
Brian is really nice and helpful until you need help making something right by asking to receive what you've already paid for.
I'll leave my original review below so people can see the difference. I made many trips to the Lawrenceville store from Athens. I'm sorry I ever did, and rest-assured I will never do it again. If you're in Lawrenceville reading this there is a great game store called Level Up by Gwinnett Place Mall. If you're in Athens, go to Dragonstar Hobbies. It's awesome but they don't really carry Age of Sigmar items.
OLD REVIEW BELOW Bottom Line: I live in Athens, and I will now be making the drive to Lawrenceville for my future Warhammer purchases.
The most well-stocked and organized Warhammer store I've ever seen. Compared to the many independent retailers I've visited, this place is a shrine to the God-Emperor. Brian (Bryan?) was the manager when I came in, and the customer service provided was stellar. Super personable and very knowledgeable about everything regarding the AOS/40k universe and the hobby. I spent about 30 minutes just geeking out about 40k with him before I remembered I was there to purchase more plastic crack. He also keeps the paint selection stocked and I was able to find a citadel shade I've been hunting for. He also keeps stock of the small things like custom bases and base terrain packs (skulls, foliage, etc) which I will be returning for. Bonus points: this is also the cleanest store I've ever been to. The owner is taking the pandemic very seriously which is just a cherry of awesome on top of...
Read moreI think it's hard to rate a place when you are continuing to visit a store. Now that I have been banned from the store, I think in can give a proper review. Brian's store is great, he knows a lot and is a great painter. But I think he is under tremendous stress because there is not enough business. I have been coming to this location for a year now and I mostly buy books, paints and brushes. I have gotten 2 coins which means I have twice spent 100$ + at the store. The one time I brought non GW figures(terrain features) to the store to play, I got banned the next time I came in. That only happened once, and I didn't even play with the said terrain features. It's a pity because I was planning to preorder some books from his store and now I am gonna have to buy it else where. I hope Brian knows he can either have business or his rules not both. Regardless I do hope his store does well but I think it is important for people who plan on coming to this store to play games to know that you will be banned for bringing non Games Workshop figures. Regardless my hobby journey will go on with or without this location, and I am gonna have a blast...
Read moreI've been a regular at our local Warhammer store for over a year now with my son, and I can't speak highly enough of Brian, the store owner. From day one, Brian has gone above and beyond to make us feel like valued members of the Warhammer community. Whether it's consulting with us on which models would suit our collection best or giving us expert tips on gameplay or painting, his advice is always spot-on. Brian has an incredible knowledge of the game and a genuine passion for helping his customers get the most out of their experience.
Beyond just the product, Brian consistently fills us in on local gaming events and store-hosted sessions, which has added a whole new level of fun and community to our Warhammer experience. His dedication and friendly demeanor make each visit something my son and I genuinely look forward to. If you’re even remotely interested in Warhammer, this store—and especially Brian—should be...
