PSA!! THEY CLOSE EARLIER THAN WHAT IS LISTED. 9:30 pm close as of 4/25/24 (at least on Thursday)
Rude staff. I called to place a to-go order at 8:55 pm. Their google page says they close at 10pm. The lady on the phone was really short and rude with me, asking how close I was and informing me they close at 9:30. Perhaps you guys should update your page on Google if that's the case?? Unprofessional and unfair to customers. Plus that's still 35 minutes out...on an empty night, you can't make a single order of chicken fried rice within 35 minutes?? She said they don't like taking orders close to close over the phone bc people abandon their food...okay sorry that happens but that's a cost of business and has nothing to do with me.
I would rate higher if the food was good, but it wasn't the best tbh. Very disappointing, bc this is the 2nd Hibachi place I treated myself to after losing 120lbs. It's rare I eat this food now, only a few times a year as a treat. Samurai Blue had SUCH a better hibachi meal. Not paid by nor affiliated with them, it was just genuinely better. THIS rice was literally drenched in oil, not even exaggerating every bite had my mouth caked in oil that it ruined any taste. Just looking at it at first, it was soggy and I legit thought it had been tampered with but it was just the oil. I see I'm not the only one who complained about this. The chicken was more like chinese fast food chicken than hibachi grill. I also asked if they could add bean sprouts to my meal. Bean sprouts (豆もやし) are common at hibachi restaurants. She was very rude about saying they don't have them. So PSA they don't have them here.
All in all, just not the best experience. I recommend searching for other local places. It's not terrible but there's better for the price point around...
Read moreI wish I could actually base my review on the food, but unfortunately, I never made it that far.
Knowing Father's Day is one of the busiest days of the year, I made a reservation for our family at 5:30 and requested a hibachi table for us. I was told by the woman that took my reservation that they didn't open until 5:30 that day, so getting a hibachi table shouldn't be an issue and put us down for one.
Upon arriving, we noticed that the restaurant opened at 4:30, and the hibachi area was already busy when we walked in. After initially telling us they couldn't find our reservation, the hostess came back and said she found us and had a table for us, but we wouldn't see our chef for about an hour and a half.
In other words, we had a reservation but would be sitting at our table until 7:00 until we were served.
She went on to explain that they had walk ins that they had to seat and therefore, those people took priority over us. There was no offer to have a manager come speak with us or any offer to accommodate us in any other way. She also had a bit of an attitude when we told her we would be contacting management and leaving a review about this experience by responding, "please do."
So here we are on Father's Day with nowhere to eat. Every other restaurant we tried calling nearby was unable to accommodate us, so we walked to the little Mexican place next door, which turned out to be awesome.
As someone who has worked in the restaurant industry for a long time, there were so many other ways this could have been handled. I would love for someone at Kirin House to explain their definition of a reservation to me because having a reservation at 5:30 and not being served until after 7:00 is completely...
Read moreWe have been going to Kirin House for years and have always been happy with it, but tonight we had a completely different and very negative experience. The food was fair, but the big problem was that the Hibachi chef made it very clear that he would rather be anywhere than here. He never spoke, he never smiled, he never did anything to make it a fun experience for anyone at the table, and they knew we were celebrating a birthday at the table. They did end up bringing a store brand cup of vanilla ice cream, but that pales in comparison to the birthday treatment we used to get here. Because we were a party of six, and 18% gratuity was automatically added to our $300 check. For decent service, we would have been happy to tip more than that, but for the service we received, we definitely would have tipped less if given the choice. When we asked to speak to a manager, we were told that he had left the building. I think we have our answer. We just...
