I'm only doing this rating because I feel folks should know about all experiences, not just the shiny, happy, great experiences others have had. I'm only giving this place a 2 star rating because I like the item my wife purchased. It was moldy and misrepresented to be something it actually was not (we verified its authenticity with the co-op that produced the piece). The owner and staff member who helped my wife load this piece into our truck were short and kurt and quite shady. They required her to be at the store at a specific time for their convenience. They didn't allow my wife time to inspect the piece and ran back into the establishment without allowing her to engage them with some basic questions. After getting the piece home, my wife discovered the mold / mildew under it when unloading. She tried repeatedly to call and reach out to the owner but was not given the courtesy of a return call. I managed to remove and replace the fabric on the bottom so it's now safe to bring into our home, but one would think that after spending nearly $1600 on a piece of furniture that this would not be an issue to begin with... second hand or not. So, my advice to anyone purchasing furniture from this establishment is that you do your due diligence and fully inspect the piece before you make the transaction. Otherwise, you'll find out like we did that these folks don't appreciate their customers (local or not) .. just their money 💰! BTW, my wife had eyes on other pieces in this store. It's a shame that she won't be doing any more shopping at this place. So much for buying local. 😏
SURPRISING UPDATE! After we cleaned and cleaned and cleaned this piece of furniture, we finally felt it was ready to find into our home. Unfortunately, it was short-lived as we found out (the hard way) that one of the legs had been repaired to the point that it broke. My wife (and, fortunately, not my mother in law) sat on the loveseat, and the leg broke out from under it. This caused not only great embarrassment but some pain in the literal a$$ and her knee when she sat on it. Mind you, we'd only had this piece in our home and in place for a short period of time. It was at this point that my wife decided to take a chance and return the broken piece. She asked if I would mind if she didn't get a refund if leaving it on the sidewalk out front of their store would be okay, to which I said I would be fine with whatever she felt was necessary to do. Well, to my surprise, they chose to do the correct thing and refunded her money. I'm actually going to upgrade my current rating experience from 2 to 4 as they deserve that much for doing the right thing, but let this review be a cautionary tail for anyone doing business with any resale retailers. I can appreciate the joy of finding and falling in love with used furniture, but please take the time to thoroughly inspect the piece and protect yourself by asking questions and asking about their return policies. All ended well for us, but buyer beware... and not just at this location! Thank you, Salt Marsh staff, for handling this transaction...
