Driven by numerous times and finally managed to squeeze in my first visit at lunchtime. Very nice location cute small ambiance and I know when the weather warms up they've got a gorgeous outside seating area overlooking the water. Timed it perfectly that it wasn't overwhelmed at lunch time and had a chance to actually sit down and chit chat with the owner and you could feel his passion for customer satisfaction with the menu choices they're going with as something unique in the area. My first take was that they have a small lunch menu. I got a chance to glance at the dinner menu. Again, it's a small menu. Not coming from a restaurant experience but some of the shows I've seen on TV and just I think a common sense thought process that was later confirmed with talking to the owner a smaller menu gives them the ability to deliver fresher higher quality offerings without having an overwhelming overhead. Several things jumped off the menu at me but only being there for lunch I didn't want to overwhelm myself for the whole day and be weighted down with three meals worth of food cuz there was plenty of things that I needed to try. The first thing I saw that I'm definitely going back for was the bacon egg and cheese Smashburger breakfast sandwich. Holy Mary of Mother of God, did that sound good. Ended up going with the cornbread eggs benedict, I love a place that will do an eggs benedict. I love to try different versions. I've been to some places in the South that kind of do a different take on the hollandaise sauce, and I just enjoy trying other people's ideas. The cornbread is what made me decide I had to try it and was not disappointed in my choice. Egg was cooked perfectly cornbread was sweet and the salt you got from the bacon just melded and made a delicious bite of food. I grew up working on a dairy farm and raised pigs that they slaughtered for food and the bacon they serve there is as close to that bacon as I've ever had and was floored that it's offered at a restaurant. I wanted to order a plate of bacon to go because that bacon you could tell was sliced and cooked with love. I also lucked out with my opportunity to speak with the owner that I was given a sampling of there homemade fresh out of the oven empanadas and my goodness I could see myself destroying a baking sheet of those. If you haven't been in, you're a damn fool. If you've only been in once, that's foolish. Get back in there and try something else because I can't wait to...
Read moreMy family is out of towners and came here for dinner. The food was amazing did not have to wait that long and the service was very friendly. The reason I gave the rating that I did was due to the pricing the menu items such as the the kids meal junior smash burger said $7.00 but we were charged 9.36 before tax. And that was every item was more then stated on the menu. When we asked the waitress about it she said that it was due to pricing changing after the menus where printed, which I can understand, except when asked if the menus would be changing to reflect the correct pricing she said we were the first ones too catch it. I would recommend the food due to it being fantastic but not if it seems like we are getting lied to about the pricing.
Update: After reading the reply from the owner, here is the update we would like to share. We've attached a picture of the original receipt we received. Nowhere on this receipt does it indicate that the price is shown will be discounted for cash payment. It would be great practice to train your staff to tell customers when they bring the receipt that if they want to pay with cash, there will be a discount. We appreciate the owner taking the time to reach out and letting us know that your staff should not have said what they did. It definitely left us feeling taken advantage of but we appreciate the prompt response. Upgraded one star due to quick response. Also upon looking at the price for the kids meal it was our mistake for thinking it had been 7. We would just ask the information before we order if there is a difference in cash vs credit. We completely understand and also agree woth this, it just would be better if notified of the difference before ordering so we are not caught off guard. Other this this I would def...
Read moreI have seen their 5 star reviews and decided to take chance. Walked in and a young man was behind bar talking to a lady who was seated there. Not knowing their protocol for seating, it took a few minutes before the young man behind the bar said we could sit anywhere we liked. I should have left immediately because this type of attention usually comes with other issues. He continued his conversation with the lady at the bar. Eventually a young woman came from the kitchen and took our drink order and gave us menus. She brought our drinks and managed to grabbed the drinks by the glass rims, rather than the bases, thus had to use straws. Placed our orders and she told the young man at the bar. He went in the kitchen and then came back out and asked the lady seated at the bar about making the house salad with grilled chicken. A party of 12 came in followed immediately by a party of 7. Waitress never helped the parties to combine tables. And again took their drink orders and again served them by grabbing by the rims. Received our meal, did not get grilled chicken on my house salad that I ask for. Boyfriend got the Cuban sandwich which was over grille/burned bread. First time and last time for this place. It is more of a bar vibe than dinner place. Staff could take some service training on how to safely serve drinks - NEVER by the rim. The food was okay, but nothing...
