I've lived in Deer Park for 36 years, and it's easier for me to do my grocery shopping at IGA since it is only 2 blocks away from where I live. When I first moved here back in 1987 , I met the owners then, and loved everything about IGA. Have always been treated great. I have always been a big shopper since we have a big family and always having people over . So I spend lots of money there . They always have new employs ever once a while and they have high school kids work after school and summer. Up till this new staff , 2years ago ? don't know any their names since they are not very friendly and apparently doesn't like to pack groceries. ,,so I pack my grocies most the time and generally take my own two carts of groceries to my car with no one offering help except people on the out side. I over heard the manager making a funny remark about my buying the store , so now the cashiers stare at my cart and make all kinds of faces , one runs outside to bring in carts and the manager keeps hisself busy . When customers see the manager and the employees acting in this way , I have most the customers giving me looks because some in line don't have a cart since they only have a couple items. I always ask those to go ahead of me , but this day was so humiliating, I felt as if I was imposing. I spent 482.00 that day . I never complain ,generally let things go , but this was embarrassing, for too long to the point I felt myself crying . I asked the cashier if their was something wrong since she was staring at me . The whole deal was terrible ..... no one asked if I needed out since I had two carts and I packed very one of my groceries. I really hope this goes to the owner of IGA, because the manager I don't think cares , since this pretty much has been like this the past 2 years. I just never said anything until now ... bad day , hey I'm 73 years old . From now on I will go the extra...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreUsually I have a great experience at this store but this past weekend no one I encountered was happy. Went in Saturday for doughnuts and the cashier was in just a very poor mood where even my daughter pointed out that she was angry. Then I went in Sunday for lunch meat and three people were working at the deli counter all three looked at me right in the eye and continued to ignore me then after one lady determined no one else was going to offer to help me she went out and put a container of chicken in the hot case then came to me after two minutes of me standing there. Then I went up to the registers and was waiting in line with only two open when another cashier turned on her light but never asked anyone to come over and even she acted like she didn't want to be bothered, I think I'll just drive the extra four minutes to Kroger rather then spend my money at this IGA. Please get your selves together and act like your customers are your top priority rather then act like we are a bother to you. It seriously only takes one bad encounter to make a customer leave you and this weekend was multiple bad encounters with your employees. What's sad is usually the red headed curly girl with glasses is always so bubbly and this time she was one of the people who ignored me at the...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI have a VERY hard time walking, even with my walker. There was a man, Edward, who was working on getting carts together in the parking lot. Since I was like a cartoon character "going after" the smell of their fried chicken wafting through the air, I was trying to get the energy to go into the store (I WISH they had motorized carts!) when I asked him if he could do me a huge favor. He went in and bought my chicken and delivered it to my car for me! What a sweetheart. He was so polite and understanding. Thanks for keeping this nice man employed. Too bad there aren't more men like him out there. I plan on calling the owner of the store in the morning to tell him about my experience with him. ** PS... IGA you need to have chicken available when people get off work. I was lucky to get it at 4:15. And no side dishes available? Is that the norm? Your chicken is awesome and I know you'd sell a lot more if you had it available at dinnertime. I also could shop at your store if you had a motorized cart for those who...
