There is amazing food to be had here, sadly, the funky little stores that used to occupy this building have ghosted the area, in favor of other locations or in some cases, never to be heard from again. The art gallery of local artists is a building staple & worth browsing through. There's always something different to see. There is a train station here & a trolly stop across the street, that you can use to get to downtown Tacoma for free. If you come to Tacoma by way of the Sounder, check out the the little eateries located in the square. There's a lot too choose from & many of these places are amazing. There's Thai, Vietnamese, Indian, Mexican, Greek & American. A couple of favorites are Wendy's (no, not that Wendy's, no burgers here), the Thai place directly across from Wendy's & a little farther down, the Indian restaurant. All are excellent! There is quite a bit of rustic seating in between all the restaurants. I'd like to see more shops reappear, but even without them, it's worth it to go for the food & the convenient transportation...
Read morePaya Thai restaurant is the only reason we go here any more. They have the absolute best fish and chips I've ever had. Excellent quality fish that's never greasy. Then, when a good portion of the building was closed to accomodate the Sounder train and then later Amtrak, ( which still hasn't begun running trains through there), I thought the whole place might shut down. So few shops left and the quaintness (or maybe ambiance) just wasn't there anymore. It's sad really, and I hope if and when the Amtrak trains start stopping there, maybe people and then more shops...
Read moreYou literally could get just about anything here it's a great place to meet somebody and just hang out and catch up. Some of the places to deliver. There are about 10 different styles of food that you can get and Main food court. I definitely would recommend RJ burgers and the fish place I can't recall what the name of it is but they have amazing food and it's large portions. The other place that I love to eat is the Indian restaurant they really amazing tikka masala and homemade soups. I work pretty close so people in our office frequent this place at least 4 times a week... at the very end of freighthouse square is the Olive Branch which is a wonderful place ... Although it's more of a dressed up sit down restaurant it's still spectacular...
