This place is absolutely extraordinary! I first visited about a month ago with a group of 20 people, and the experience was so incredible that I couldn’t resist booking a second trip when my family came to town. Area 253 Glassblowing offers an unforgettable adventure that seamlessly combines art, craftsmanship, and science. It’s not just an activity—it’s an immersive experience. One of the absolute highlights is spending time with Patrick, the owner and master craftsman. Meeting him alone is worth the price of admission! Patrick’s passion and expertise shine as he guides you through the mesmerizing process of glassblowing. It’s almost like a dance as he carefully allows you to take the lead on your project while ensuring your safety around the 1,000+ degree molten glass and fiery furnaces. For about the cost of dinner and drinks in Seattle, you’ll create a stunning, one-of-a-kind blown glass piece to take home. I chose to make a globe paperweight (check out the attached photo!), and the results were breathtaking. You’ll have the opportunity to choose your colors and shape your design, adding your personal touch to the final creation. Of course, Patrick is there every step of the way, providing expert guidance and making the entire process fun and approachable. Tucked away in a charming little alley in Tacoma, the studio is a hidden gem where incredible works of art are born. Patrick’s enthusiasm and charisma make the experience even more special. It’s clear he’s truly found his calling as both an artisan and an instructor, making the class entertaining and unforgettable. I wholeheartedly recommend this experience for anyone looking for a unique date night, an exciting group outing, or a memorable activity to wow visiting friends and family—all without breaking the bank. Do yourself a favor and visit Patrick at Area 253 Glassblowing. You won’t regret it!

My daughter & granddaughter were visiting from out of town, and wanted a glass-blowing experience. Other places in town couldn't accommodate them, but Patrick went above and beyond to get us in, even on short notice. He took a lot of time with them in making their pieces, explaining things every step of the way and giving them a lot of hands-on experience. They made a float, heart and wine glass. We highly recommend Patrick and Area 253 Glassblowing. We'll definitely be back next time they're in town. Thank you, Patrick, for a great time!

Patrick was top notch to deal with. He got our group of four in on late notice. He was fantastic with my 11-year-old nephew. He got us each involved in our creations, and coached us the along each step of the way. It's a cool space and very authentic. Patrick was also very mindful of getting each of our names spelled/pronounced correctly, which was extra appreciated. We'd definitely recommend this experience!

I took my sister here for her birthday and we had the best time! Patrick was so knowledgeable, funny and just made the experience top notch. We made ornaments and he guided us through the process with clear and safe directions. It took about 30 minutes for the both of us to make our treasures and then he pointed us in the right direction for a fun place to spend some time in Tacoma before dinner. Note that the glass needs time to cool safely so you aren't able to take it home with you that day. From start to finish, Patrick made this such a fun experience and I wouldn't hesitate to go back again one day!...

Highly recommend the glassblowing experience here. Patrick is super responsive and communicative not only in setting up your appointment and experience, but he's incredibly personable and a delight once you're there. He made the entire experience an absolute joy. It was worry-free, fun, and something my family and I would repeat in a heartbeat. My dad was a skeptic going in, thinking glassblowing would be a "total chick experience," and he ended up talking motorcycle shop talk with Patrick most of the time and raved about the experience even more than my mom and me. Definitely visit. You...
