The store has some very nice furniture. However, their sales and service team is quite lacking. We ordered some furniture which was in stock and delivered no problems. This was from our first sales associate who also informed us that the bar stools we ordered would not be available until May, which was fine. We went back a week later to by a bedroom set and found that he was no longer there. A second sales associate took our order for the bedroom set which we found was also back ordered until May. We agreed to this May time frame and placed the order. Keep in mind we have paid in full for the bar stools and have a 50% deposit we have paid on the bedroom set. Beginning of June come around and we have heard nothing so I call the store to find out that our second sales associate is no longer there. The woman i speak with on this call informs me that the chest and mirror are now back ordered until Sept. anther four months. I am told that if I "cancel" the bedroom set that they can not provide they will charge me 20%. Now, i have gone through two sales people, the store can not deliver what I have ordered and they want to change me 20% not to deliver the furniture I ordered as promised. I my past experience I have found that when a store can not do as they agreed they try to provide some accommodation, not charge me for their failure. This is certainly an interesting sales approach, i guess time will tell how it...
Read moreThree years ago I went to Scan Design and looked at a lovely leather couch that was at the front of the showroom. It was praised by the salesman for its comfort and style and was touted as an everyday couch that would last for years to come. While the asking price of $5,700 was a bit more than I wanted to spend, I went ahead and made the purchase. Three years and two months after the sale, I began to notice cracks and peeling in the leather and so I contacted Scan Design. They informed me that in spite of the hefty price tag, the item was only under warranty for three years and so therefore was not covered. Apparently, this couch was made with open end leather and not truly suitable for daily use due to the fact that it will begin to deteriorate when it comes in contact with the body oil that comes from our skin. So basically I was sold a couch that never was going to last and terribly unsuited for daily use. For $5,700. Buyer beware! Less than honest furniture dealers reside at Scan Design, ready to...
Read moreI am very pleased with the pair of black leather chairs I got here but be forewarned - Scan charges a 20 percent fee for cancelling an order even if the item has never left the store! I had paid for two chairs that were in-stock items but before I picked them up I considering taking just one. That's when I read the fine print in the contract and realized it would cost more $200! A 20 percent "restocking'' seems outrageously high - electronics stores don't charge that much even if you take the item and bring it back. I should also note that years ago I bought a Stressless- like (but not Ekornes Stressless) leather recliner from Scan on which the mechanism broke after just a year and Scan would do nothing about it So I was hesitant to deal with them again but they had exactly the kind of chair this time that I was looking for - and fortunately, no...
