I did not expect this out of a relatively new property but I was not pleased with this location as the hotel is located on a very small lot. Parking is very cramped and just like the parking spaces, the rooms feel cramped as well. The rooms were clean and the hotel is located not far from a few restaurants. But the noise of traffic on Gandy blvd is not good especially with construction. And it will get worse. The crosstown express way will be added to the center road being built on Gandy so for future guests, prepare for nights of very noisy traffic 24/7 as this property, when it was built was done very cheaply. The building is made entirely of wood which transfers all that noise to your room. Also the walls or somewhat thin and you can hear noise of all sorts from yelling to loud laughter, sobs and moans. Not good. For the price you pay, you should get more but you don't. The styling and decor of the rooms is good but comfort is not there. The beds feel like cinder blocks with sheets on them. very uncomfortable. Apparently there were some repairs done in the bathroom and there were done very sloppy. Whoever did this has very poor drywall skills or just didn't care. Ugliest repair patches ever in a room that costs over 100 per night. There is no excuse for that. Also after I checked out and reviewed my receipt, I saw a $1 dollar charge for having and using a safe in the room, which I did not even use or see!! There's no safe anywhere in the room!! This is FRAUD and should be addressed immediately! I would steer clear of this location...
Read morePros: Manager and staff were friendly. Queen beds were comfortable. Shower was nice. Location is convenient to Tampa, MacDill AFB, and St. Petersburg. Cons: I specifically asked for a room in the back to reduce highway noise, and was given 307, right on the highway side. I also reserved for 5 people but was still charged extra for a rollaway bed. Pool was closed (and gross) until several days into our stay. Fitness Center was also closed— sign on door says to ask staff about arrangement with LA Fitness (no, thanks— inconvenient). WIFI was very slow— finally gave up and set up a hotspot from my own data. The bathrooms don’t have ventilation fans (manager said it’s one big connected system (?!)). Our overhead bathroom light was not working, so thinking that it was supposed to be a heat lamp, I asked about it. While they were fixing it, they must have dropped the glass cover for it because it wasn’t fixed and we found several pieces of glass on the bathroom floor (and the lightbulb on the bathroom counter). The parking spaces are very narrow and a little tricky to navigate. The “breakfast” consists of a brown bag with a water, granola bar, small muffin, and a small OJ (no protein). I get that it’s COVID, but sometimes it feels like an excuse. (Restaurants and even amusement parks are open….) I’d say the same thing for no daily housekeeping. Not crazy about having to ask for towels and daily essentials. (Shrugs.) if none of the above bothers you, you’ll probably have...
Read moreThis hotel is gross. It smelled bad in every area. The corridors smelled like pot, the elevator smelled like old food, and the rooms reeked from lots of unidentifiable smells. Cleanliness is not something they care about.
The overall maintenance is poor. Broken ceiling tiles, chipped paint, accumulated grunge, and cold water should be your base expectation.
Cleanliness as mentioned before is clearly not something they have any quality controls inplace. There were hairs on the walls, towels, and bed sheets. Oil grime was normal on any surface that is regularly touched. My room smelled bad so I asked to go to a different room. They happily gave me keys and so I went to the other room. When I got there it also smelled bad and had the same level of general poor cleaning.
The property says its non-smoking but the front desk attendant smelled very strongly of cigarettes so I doubt he could even tell that there were guests who smoked in the rooms.
I won't ever be back. Save yourself the irritation and frustration. Pay the extra $20 per night to stay somewhere else. Anywhere else. For $240/n this place is a scam. La Quinta and Wyndham should pull their name off the property since its a poor representation of the brand.
I added a few pictures and could have taken hundreds. There was just no point in trying to document every...
