My husband and I really wanted to be able to recommend Mactech because the staff is so nice, but we tried having our computer fixed twice with them..
The first time was for a hard drive recovery, which ended up not going well, not their fault, and the second time was to install a new hard drive.
The problem I have most with them is not the time it took (both times took over a week, even two actually), understandable because from what I gather, they only have one guy working on the computers, but they always said they'd call and never actually do.
No calls at all both times we tried to get service from them. We would call after the one week mark and they'd say they'd call back, but still nothing. The only time we'd get an update is if after so long, we go in in person to check on it.
Even then, the last time we went, they asked for one more day and said they'd call, but we were tired of waiting, mostly because we knew at this point that we wouldn't get an update even if they promised.
So we took my husbands computer to Mega Byte and within 45 seconds I'd say, after the gentleman plugged in the device, he was able to give us instructions on what to do to get it to work and it didn't cost anything.
A week a Mactech, no results, but not more than 5 minutes at Mega Byte, we finally got something. I hate to say it, but it makes me regret taking in our computer to Mactech.
We originally took it to Mactech because their prices were more affordable, but I suppose you pay for it one way or another. Time is money and I think what really bummed me out was that we could've saved so much more time had we known.
We really wanted to like them. It's disappointing.
My iPhone battery and charge port were completely dying. Phone would barely charge and died so quickly. I called up the shop to check to confirm they were open before we drove out there and they picked up right away. I was greeted by friendly staff over the phone and at the store. I was able to drop off my phone right there and then, and was told that I would get a call or a message either later that day or the next (they were backed up on phones). I was able to direct message the tech to make sure he had my whatsapp contact and he responded right away. Even though the shop was closed, I was able to meet up with the tech and get my completely fixed phone later that evening. They were very accommodating, fast, polite, and my phone works perfectly. I know the going rate to fix both the battery and the charge port - they didn't overcharge at all.
*I was reading the other reviews both here and on Facebook, and I think how quickly you get a response or your stuff back depends completely on what tech you get and that tech's availability. I got a really honest timeline from the staff when we were discussing what I...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI brought in a MacBook Pro because of issues with how slow it had become after a recent software update. They immediately knew what the issue was and how to resolve it: replaced or upgraded the SSD. In addition, they repaired the speakers, replaced the battery, and cleaned the inside. They also replaced two MacBook feet that had broken off from the underside at no additional cost. As a student with daily classes, I didnāt have a lot of time to spare and I was worried that these repairs would take so long. However, I dropped my MacBook off on a Saturday and picked it up two days later on the following Monday so it didnāt take long at all. I feel I paid a fair price for the amount of work they did, and it was either that or have to purchase a new laptop. They also offer a 90 day warranty with the parts and labor that they serviced, which I definitely appreciate in case anything goes wrong. I interacted with Tristen and Dave, and both were helpful and informative. Overall, they did a great job...
