Witt's Everything for the Office — Local services in Tehachapi

I have been going to Witts for years. Today I went in to get something laminated. It was about $3. So when I asked the lady to cut it (you know those cutting boards with the long blade handle that cuts a nice edge in about 2 seconds?) the young lady told me it was a $40 charge. WHAT??? I said, did I hear you right? FOUR ZERO? 40 dollars to walk over to that cutting board, give it 2 whacks and come back in less than 30 seconds??? Yep They’ve always done that in the past, just trim the edges of what ever. But now they have a $40 per hour charge and a 1 hour minimum to trim your little laminated card. I told them they have OFFICIALLY LOST THEIR MINDS!! I wanted to go in and videotape the explanation and put in on YouTube. Still can’t believe it!! Walmart will be here soon. I usually would pledge my allegiance to the small guy trying to raise a family in a small town, and before today I would have continued to go to Witts for all my needs. But you simply can’t do stupid absurd things like this and expect to keep your customer base. So long Witts. I vote with my wallet....

I am a very small business so I was a little intimidated by the idea of going to witts but I did and let me share my experience. Greg measured our vary small office, got my ideas, used what seemed to be over a decade of knowledge and expanded on our plans, space planned, talked to our staff and fitted to their needs, and executed the install. What I learned. Local is not expensive. Service is his number one priority. I will never again just put a desk in a room. And we will always hire Mr Greg to outfit us. I have lived in Tehachapi for about four years. In that time, I have purchased office furniture, used their copy sevice, fax service, bought special occasion gifts and purchased all of my office and business suplies there. Witt's is a drop off location for Fed Ex, UPS and USPS. I stopped there to drop off a prepaid parcel for UPS and there was no paperwork for them to do. I was told there would be a $1.00 charge for there service (which would be for my package to sit on the floor until UPS would pick it up). I politely protested and was told that was "store Policy". I ended up going to their only competitor in town and my package was accepted with a smile (and no charge for the drop off). Goodbye Witt's, hello...
