Global Fresh Market — Local services in Temple City

This is the biggest Asian supermarket ever. The inside is bright and airy with high ceilings. There are lots of products on each aisle. There are several tables with hot food samples such as dumplings, soy sauce, drinks and snacks available on the weekends. Shopping carts are brand spanking new, so it maneuvers very smoothly. There are lots of products from Hong Kong, China, Taiwan, Korea, Japan, Indonesia, Philippine, Thailand and Vietnam. The staff in the meat and fish section are helpful and friendly. There is live seafood available but the tank is located quite far away from where you stand, so it is a bit hard to describe which fish you want as it is quite a distance. It is a little tricky if you wanted to ask the staff to try to fetch a bigger or smaller crab or lobster, as he would need to walk from the tank to you in about 10 steps. Only a couple cashiers are working, but the check out line moves quickly. Parking is plenty even...

Maintains the layout and approach of the old Valu-Mart, but with Chinese grocery!* The meat is well-priced, and the produce even more so. The in-season fruits and veg are very cheap - if I don't have any idea what to make, I go here and buy whatever! Savor the season, etc.

I will say though, as someone who grew up going to Valu-Mart and Hong Kong Supermarket (now Good Fortune), this feels like their child, and it's kind of weird. I still think the people who run this new supermarket used to work for Good Fortune, but thought they could run it differently. Well, so far, they're doing...

Newly opened in 2023. It is a typical good size Asian supermarket with more seafood, meat and produce than you would find at a typical Ralph's or Vons. Has lower prices than GW Supermarket, and definitely lower than H-Mart, but more common foods here. Able to find Rendang, laksa, and other South East Asian food items. Their frozen blood cockles are from fully cooked from Vietnam and China, while H-Mart has raw frozen ones from South Korea, and fresh ones from Mexico. They have an unimpressive grounded...
