Dewey's Liquors — Local services in Temple Terrace

I loved this place the moment I walked in. It’s set up like the liquor stores you remember from years ago where you might have to squeeze through a row of bottles to get where you’re going but it is definitely worth it. They advertise the lowest prices around and I believe them because I know of no other liquor store that sells popular wine labels for $3 a bottle or that has a continuous supply of miniatures for $1. Unless I’m in another part of town I always head here. They’re on Busch Blvd. right before 56th Street. The employees are some of the nicest people around. They are old school so you can’t be flippant but are more than glad to talk if they have the time. I’ve dealt with them for five years and not once did I ever have a bad experience with them. The only good thing about this store is that it is open late and the staff are awesome. They don’t have nothing to do with the prices but at the end of the day they are not cheaper than other liquor stores. My don Julio 1942 is 168 at Dewey’s plus tax. Total wine has it for 150. Don Julio 70 is 69 bucks at Dewey’s, cheaper at total wine. It’s actually 50 bucks, not trying to bash their business but don’t say you’re cheaper than everybody else when I have told your staff about the prices and was told that’s up to the owner. Don't let the exterior fool you, their selection is great and they really do have "Stupit Prices."

Although it is roughly an extra twenty minute drive for me compared to my more local liquor store, if I am buying 3+ bottles, I save more than the gas and my time with their discounted prices. The only liquor store I've found with cheaper/similar pricing is the one attached to Sam's Club but they only sell 1.75L bottles and top shelf($100+/750mL bottles).

As mentioned before, the exterior looks a little rough and there are always people hanging around outside. Even at its worst though, I've never felt unsafe and occasionally get asked for change which is a minor...
