The Classic Man — Local services in Terre Haute

I’ve honestly never posted a review on Google before. Good or bad, but my experience with The Classic Man in Terre Haute, IN in the Meadows Mall was so outrageously bad that I simple can’t held my tongue. Six weeks ago I ordered a black 3-pc. suit for my son to wear to prom. I was concerned that they wouldn’t be able to get a suit in the 2-week time frame we had, so this was the very first question I asked. I was assured this wasn’t going to be a problem. I called the day before prom to see when I could pick up the suit. I was informed I could pick it up that day, anytime after 1:00. When I arrived I was told they were running late, but assured they were In route from Indy with the suite in question. I was told to come back at 3:00. I arrived back at 3:00, but still no suit. I was told to come back “again” 5:00. You guessed it…no suit at 5:00 either. Finally, at 6:45 I was told the suit was there! However, I needed to be there in the next 15 minutes to pick it up, because they were closing at 7:00. I sent my husband to pick up the suit. He arrived home with a suit that had been pieced together…three different brands, three different fabrics and three different hues of black. I called first thing the very next morning (the day of prom) to tell them of my displeasure…that this isn’t what I bought or thought I was getting. I thought I ordered a custom 3-pc.suit. I was told they’d check into it and call me back ASAP. They never called back, so I had no choice but to send my son to prom in a mix-matched suit. I took the suit back the following Monday, and talked with the owner who was already aware of the situation. However, he nor anyone else had ever attempted to contact me to offer any type resolution. He tells me they gathered what they could in the time frame they had. Why wasn’t I told from the get-go it was going to be a problem!?! I never would have agreed to a mix-match suit. He agrees to get me the suit I originally ordered and paid for. Three weeks pass. I receive a message that my son’s “pants” are in. I called back twice, and not getting any answer I leave a message informing them that it wasn’t just a pair of pants but a custom 3-pc. suit. Once again, no one calls me back!!! A week goes by, so I go into the shop (my 6th trip for one suit), and sure enough it’s just pants. I waited 40 minutes while they dug around in the back looking for my son’s suit. He finally gives me “a suit”. At this point I don’t know even if it’s the suit I ordered!!! Under the circumstances you would thought he would have bent over back, yet he was rude and condescending!!! I’m exhausted just writing this review!!! Can you imagine how it was living it. This was one of the most pleasant experiences I have had here in terre haute. I had been searching for a place to buy a suit with minimal headache that could help me pick the best fit for my body. The quick visit I did make was met with a nice greeting and very knowledgeable staff. I was quickly given options based on my criteria and sized up to a perfect fitting. Ended up purchasing a very reasonable Calvin Klein 2-piece suit and am currently awaiting my alterations which was only an additional $15. I couldn't be any happier with my decision to shop local.
