Poplar Pub — Restaurant in Terre Haute

I went here at 10 PM on a Saturday. It was karaoke night, and the bar scene seemed fun If you wanna go there for karaoke and drinks.

My fiancé and I wanted to eat, however. We wasted our money. I got the traditional chicken wings. The skin was crispy and the chicken was juicy. However, even with the sauce, it just didn't have any flavor. That is a go to item I just about any restaurant I go to, So I know what I like when it comes to hot wings.

My fiancé decided to try her hand at the pizza. And she knows what she likes, pepperoni and mushroom. Karaoke and I could have been turned down a little bit, as I think this might have been some of the problem. The first pizza brought back with pepperoni and sausage, remade pizza brought back was sausage and mushroom.

We only got one NA drink, not even a refill. Even though the service was extremely slow, I still did not take it out on my server and managed to tip 18%. But definitely should have asked for another discount even though the pizza was taken off.

They gave us the second pizza and I decided to try a couple of slices. The crust was great and so was the sauce but I didn't understand the cheese.

I'm very patient when it comes to ordering and waiting for my food. I get the most annoyed when I'm ready to leave a restaurant, and people aren't ready to let me leave.

I did see some slight potential in the food, which makes me want to come back one more time. Just not at the same time. I came there, Which is why this is not a one star review. But not so sure I want to pay...

I am very disappointed with the lack of professionalism this establishment displayed. I hired them to cater a family event for me and 5 hours before the event they called and told me they could not do it. I had family coming for a Pre Thanksgiving dinner from several different States so you can imagine how devastating this was. Please call the Charlie's Pub for your catering needs. They will definitely be there with friendly staff and great service! I have always used the Copper Bar as well and they never failed to be on time with great staff and service! Thumbs down...

First time there tonight. Not the greatest first impression. Whiskey bacon burger was decent. Seemingly plenty of staff and not that busy, but friendliness and attentiveness was lacking. My husband and I sat at the bar and were rarely checked on. Had to wait/flag for drinks and check. Seemed as if manager (or owner) was there not far from us at the bar as there was some business talk. Everyone was hovering around her. She got excellent service while we waited.....hopefully just a bad night. We will give this pub one more shot...
