I’ll try to make this story as short as possible, but as a long-time Amazon user, I took a chance and bought an engagement ring online that initially appeared to be a great value. Bad mistake, as the diamond turned out to be nowhere close to the specs listed, and three months later I’m still trying to get my money back. I found Thollot Diamonds on Yelp while searching for a reputable jeweler to examine the Amazon diamond, and they confirmed my suspicions - which was really disappointing because both my fiancée and I really liked the styling of the ring. But in the process of having it checked out we learned about Thollot’s custom design process. They measured the ring, took a few pictures, asked us a few questions about what features we’d like to change, and then custom designed a ring that is far better than the one I tried to buy through Amazon. The entire process was amazing. They designed it using some type of AutoCAD software, then emailed images of the ring that were so detailed they looked like real photos. We made several changes to further refine the design, and once we settled on the final version they printed an exact 3-D replica so we could get an idea what it would look like in real life. Troy (the owner) was incredible. My fiancée wanted some changes to the first design that I didn’t think were physically possible, but Troy took it on as a challenge and came up with an innovative design that worked perfectly. The end result was a breathtakingly beautiful ring that far exceeded our expectations. Now at this point in the story you’re probably thinking it cost a small fortune. Mid-way through the process I began to wonder about the same thing (remember, I tried to buy a ring through Amazon), so I did a little comparison shopping at some of the big name jewelers here in Denver, and to my surprise the final product at Thollot came in considerably lower than rings with similar diamond specs. And that was comparing to standard off-the-shelf wedding bands that weren’t nearly as nice as the ring we designed. The entire experience was fantastic, and I couldn’t be happier with the end result. We’re customers for life!
8/23/21 Update: After my fiancee' began exhibiting some rather odd behavior that worsened as the big day approached, I ended up calling off the engagement two weeks prior to the wedding. Troy graciously bought my ring back at a fair price and handled the whole situation very professionally. I'm thankful I did, because three years later through a series of divine circumstances I met a beautiful lady whose values and interests match mine in every way. When it came time to propose, I didn't hesitate to go straight to Thollot Diamonds because of the fantastic experience I had previously. Once again, Troy and Joy went above and beyond to make it a positive experience, and helped build a custom designed ring that my wife absolutely loves. Funny thing - we ran into her niece at the store and they are big fans as well. I can't say enough good...
Read moreFirst let me say that I have always bought my jewelry at the Shane Co. I had gone to them first at the Westminster location, but the the service was awful and they were rude. They made me feel like me and my jewelry were just not upper class enough for me to be there. I had never been treated that way by anyone before. So, I decided to check out Thollot.
I walk in and immediately they welcomed me. They offered me water or a beer, which made me laugh, although I think they do have a bar. I told them I had a watch, a ring I wanted to get sized and a ring I wanted to put a stone in. She immediately noticed my rings and offered to clean them, even though I didn't buy them there, which I always love to have done.
There you speak directly with the jewelers so there was no running back and forth and he said she said info, and no waiting around like at the Shane Co. I told her about the watch. She said that they didn't sell watches or have any bands, but she took it and said, "let me measure the band size so I can tell you what your looking for", which was absolutely wonderful. She then looked at the cocktail ring I wanted sized, which I think is lovely and she told me how pretty it was and then sized me. She did all kinds of pictures that go in the work order file and the price was $140, but she never spoke to me as if I was too poor to afford their services or as if the ring had stones that were just too cheap for them to touch, (which is what the Shane Co did). This was a ring that I had gotten from my mother and I don't know exactly how expensive it was, but it was important to me and I wanted to wear it, which she recognized.
I showed her the other ring. She told me exactly what Shane company had said, where the stone had been removed at one point, and that they would need to build up the bridge and that it wouldn't be advisable to get a stone for the band. The Shane Co offered no explanation, she was just rude. At Thollot, I was talking to the jeweler, so I could ask questions, which I really liked. She acknowledge that this ring was also something she could tell was important to me, and she told me that they could do the repairs, or they could do a replica of the ring using the metal or that I could melt the metal down and make something like a cross that I could wear on a chain. I thought the customer service was beyond excellent.
I have gone to Shane Company for all of my jewelry over the last 30 years, but it only took this one experience to have me forever change where I will buy the rest of my jewelry, and that will be with Thollot. All my jewelry was sized perfectly, the price was better then Shane Co., the service was wonderful and I greatly appreciate Thollot going the extra...
Read moreI’d like to pass along my story about the fantastic service I received from Thollot Jewelers. My fiancé and I had been searching high and low for an engagement ring that she adores and suits her personality but doesn’t break the bank, but hadn’t had much success. Then while doing an endless Google images search of engagement rings that seemed to return nothing but stock rings, I happened to see an in-house custom-made design from Thollot and was awestruck – exactly what we were looking for! But . . . with the setting alone being quite expensive, I had the sinking feeling that with a diamond there was no way we could afford it. But I went ahead and texted in an inquiry to see if there were any options.
And this is where the great customer service from Thollot’s manager (Preston) came in. First, he immediately answered the text and was very professional. I explained the problem and asked if he could perhaps remove some of the smaller diamonds to reduce cost. Not only did he say that was very feasible, but he immediately texted me a picture of the design without the tiny diamonds. Further, he suggested lab diamonds for all stones to control costs. He managed to reduce the cost to the point where it was merely “out-of-our-price-range” instead of “CRAZY-outside-our-price-range” (haha). As I was running numbers in my head (will we be able to eat next week?), I had to ask the dreaded question “We’re getting married in two weeks -- could it be ready by then?” Preston took a metaphorical deep breath and said that was almost impossible, but that he would check and get back to me. When he got back with me, he said because your store had recently done a very similar design for a customer, that he could make it happen if we acted very quickly.
By the end of the day, Preston has confirmed my payment, sent me CAD drawings of the design from all angles, and said he planned to have it in my hands the day before the wedding (Jan. 26). Sure enough, the ring arrived two days before the wedding and was absolutely gorgeous – something special and custom that made my wife’s ring a lifetime treasure instead of merely an expensive bauble that indicates a person is married. After it arrived, Preston texted me to make sure it had arrived and I was happy.
Amazingly good customer service with an attentiveness to the actual needs of the customer. You can’t ask for a better customer service experience than that. Good luck – you won’t go wrong working with...
