Be cautious when considering canceling your membership with this gym. While the gym itself is decent and aligns with the monthly fees in terms of equipment and the people, the cancellation process is quite baffling, especially for someone working in the tech industry like me.
I attempted to initiate the cancellation through various means, including sending emails to multiple addresses they had used to contact me previously and even a Facebook message. Despite seeing that they had read my message, there was no response. When I called the gym, they informed me that I had to cancel in person and complete paperwork. This was perplexing because I had initially signed up online, and they had previously requested digital documentation, such as a picture of my card when it expired. So, the question arose: why couldn't they allow for a digital cancellation?
Now, let's delve into the "paperwork" aspect. I hadn't visited the gym in three months, ever since I moved to Fort Collins. I admittedly forgot about the membership, and it didn't even cross my mind to cancel it when I was there. After making an hour and a half drive to the gym from Fort Collins, I discovered that the paperwork process was equally perplexing. The staff asked for my name, pulled up my information on a screen (which was facing me, exposing other clients' personal information with no apparent concern for privacy). Then, they requested that I write my name again on a piece of paper, along with my address, the date (twice), and the reason for the cancellation. That was it! And I couldn't help but wonder why this couldn't have been accomplished via email.
To add to the frustration, I'll also be charged for next month's fees because, at that point, I was only ten days away from the next billing cycle, and they required a 30-day notice for cancellations. So, another month's fees for supposed "improvements" to the gym. Speaking of which, I can't help but ponder whether they'll also charge me for the annual "ENHANCE FEE," which, as far as I remember, was typically due at the end of the year.
In a world where subscriptions abound, this gym's cancellation process is beyond comprehension for someone like me. I might as well read the Netflix terms to check if they also demand an additional month's payment after...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreMy husband and I like this gym because it is a small gym and the convenience it offers compared to other areas. However, after being here for 6 months, Iām concerned as to where the $30 annual enhancement fees are going but I havenāt seen new equipment. Yes, itās a small fee but if everyone is being charged the fee, Iām wondering where is the enhancement. Maybe it is not clear to me, Iāve seen new customers but whereās the new stuff ? This is a legitimate question. I thought enhancement fees were meant to be used to enhance the equipment but Iāve only seen the name change and new shirts/swag. Iāve noticed thereās still the shattered glass wall mirror thatās been taped up and hasnāt been fixed. Treadmill handles are broken off. Looks like some seats of equipment with tattered seats got new covers. And what is up with the ellipticals not always being powered on? I get the circuit breaker turns off, but this is way too common. Thereās one wonky treadmill that shakes when you run on it. Same with the treadmill where occasionally it is not powered on. Sometimes it just stops running in middle of running on a treadmill and that is an injury risk. Overall, I do believe it is not a bad gym.
Update: We got charged another mid annual gym enhancement fee a while back but two treadmills are still broken, second to last treadmill is shaky still, and last treadmill is loud when running on it. I havenāt seen any other significant enhancement made to the gym aside from new covers for the equipment seats like I stated last time. This is a bit frustrating to see that people are charged an enhancement fee but we donāt see it?
Final update: My opinion is just donāt go here. They made it difficult to cancel membership and was...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreIt's so good to finally be leaving this gym in my rearview. I was a member here for 3 years, 6 months and I can tell you the majority of these positive reviews are from current and former employee's aswell as their family and friends. That's the equivalence of using your mother as a work reference, ofcourse she's going to say you're the best. I stayed as long as I did because my workout partners didn't want to leave but now they've decided to venture off to new gyms and so that's my cue to leave.
I've seen this gym struggling for awhile and don't see it lasting much longer. The only reason this gym was successful was because of it's location and lack of competition but that all changed last year when chuze fitness, Planet Fitness and youfit opened up in the area. Even the old Kmart is being turned into a Vasa Fitness and will be opening this summer. There's a reason the old owner Sarah recently sold the gym. This new owner has no idea what he is doing, he bought a lemon and is only chasing away longterm members with his changes.
What I hated most about this gym was the atmosphere. Lot's of Drama spearheaded by the staff. People only coming here to find a boyfriend/girlfriend. Individuals more interested in making friends and small talk. Lots of Gossip and trash talking of members. I experienced more drama here than I did in college and I was in a fraternity. I was labeled an a**hole because I kept to myself, didn't participate in small talk and only socialized with select individuals who I worked out with.
The only employee's who were worth their weight in gold was Chris Maese, who doesn't work here anymore and...
