I've been coming here for many years, but this experience was just disappointing.
I called two days in advance to ask the owner/technician if he could swap my GPU for my RTX 3070 and to get an estimate on the service. The person on the phone told me $60. That sounded like a great deal, especially since I knew he usually worked quickly. So, once I got the necessary cables, I brought in my build.
About an hour and a half after dropping it off, I received a call saying the swap would cost more because it was more complicated than expected. He explained that he needed to disassemble part of my case to access the power supply. Now, Instead of the originally quoted $60, the price had now doubled to $125. He also said that instead of taking two hours, it could take five to six. Since I needed the job done urgently, I agreed to the new terms.
A couple of hours later, I got a text letting me know my PC was ready for pickup. As soon as I walked in, he told me my PC was ready and handed me the old GPU, which was inside a now completely destroyed box. He let out a cheeky laugh and said, "Hee hee, sorry."
Then, he recommended that I lay my tower sideways because the new GPU was so heavy that it would sag, saying it would still run properly horizontally as it would vertically. That seemed odd because the GPU came with a support stand, which I ended up finding is very simple to install.
When I got home I noticed he left the power supply switched on after giving it back to me. But the worst part? All protective film that the GPU comes wrapped in, which has "REMOVE PROTECTIVE FILM BEFORE USE" written in big, bold red letters, was still on the card when he installed it. I had to take out the GPU myself, remove the film, and install the support standāsomething he should have done in the first place.
He did not do the job right it seemed done very lazily and rushed I was definitely overcharged, I might as well go to...
Ā Ā Ā Read morewent there after cracking my screen .. he asked for my passcode which I found completely odd because why do you need to get into my phone to see if the screen works? but I gave it to him and he said to come back in 45 minutes. came back, screen was beautiful, everything seemed fine. the same day I knew something was odd because my phone died at 7% and it has never done that before. phone wouldn't charge, etc. eventually I got it to work. it's now a month later and my phone completely doesn't work.wont respond, won't come on, nothing. so it's clear he did something to my battery. so sure you're getting it for a low price but you're losing in the end because you'll have to purchase a new phone a month later! didn't think I could blame the problems on him until I just read the review exactly like mine ! don't go here people .. just pay full...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI agree the office looks very messy but probably a electronics tinkerer's paradise, but I wouldn't have it any other way. This guy is amazing. After reading other reviews I had great confidence in him. My son does all of his college work online so I bought him a expensive MacBook with a SSD, wrongly thinking that it would be more reliable than a standard cheaper disc drive. Well less than 2 years old and he suddenly could not log on to his user acct. All of his semester work down the drain. Apple support after 1 hour doing things via the phone was worthless. And this was Feb 18, 2021 you know during that snow and ice storm. No Geek Squad techs showed at 2 Best Buys, but luckily PHD was open and working. He diagnosed a fried SSD, pulled off all the college data, and replaced the SSD. Unbelievable. He is a miracle worker. I highly...
