Okay, let me begin by saying that this review is not born of malice. I truly hope that the owners of this establishment will read these words and perhaps, just perhaps, learn something. For I write this while perched precariously upon the throne, a victim of the culinary atrocities I am about to describe.
The Corner Stable. The name itself conjures images of rustic charm, of hearty fare and convivial gatherings. Alas, the reality fell far short of the promise. After a frustrating search for parking (the entrance, I swear, was designed by a troll), we entered to find the place semi-packed, a cacophony of chatter and clatter filling the air.
Our order, when it finally arrived after an agonizing forty-five minutes, was a disaster. My cornbread, eagerly anticipated, was forgotten entirely. A minor oversight, perhaps, but the descent into culinary hell had only just begun.
My mashed potatoes, a bland, insipid affair, were a poor substitute for the baked potato I had ordered. My spouse's broccoli, a glacial tundra, lay before him like a forgotten sacrifice. "Can you scoop that off your plate?" the waitress inquired, her voice strained. "We need to show them… show them how badly they've messed up." Show them, indeed. The broccoli returned, a pathetic, microwaved husk, wilted and brown, a testament to the kitchen's incompetence.
My baked potato, when it finally arrived, was lukewarm, a pale shadow of its former glory. The chicken, dry and desiccated, tasted suspiciously like it had been languishing in the back of the refrigerator since yesterday, then hastily doused in a generic barbecue sauce. And the cornbread? A dry, tasteless husk, utterly devoid of any redeeming qualities. Served, ironically, with a scoop of frozen whipped butter.
A halfhearted apology from our waitress did little to soothe the growing unease in my stomach. No offer of compensation, no attempt to rectify the situation. Just a mumbled "sorry" and a retreat into the shadows.
And now, here I sit, a prisoner on this porcelain throne, the unfortunate victim of a culinary nightmare. I am livid. I am disgusted. And I will be returning to the Corner Stable tomorrow, armed with righteous indignation, to demand an explanation.
Never...
Read moreUnfortunately, I must change my review as per the latest visit to this place on Valentine's day 2022 (yesterday) that I was mistreated to a certain extent as follows:
I made a reservation for this restaurant at 7:45pm to have a dinner with my wife, decided to drive the hour and 20 minutes to get there, arrived at the restaurant at 7:33pm walked in and told the receptionist I had a reservation, I suppose she didn't hear me, she asked my name, she offered us a table immediately behind her, I requested a booth, and there was one available, she called whom I assume to be the manager and we got denied and offered instead to wait [if we wanted] we opted for the table the girl at the podium offered, placed our order, the waitress was the only person that treated us with respect as we entered the place and gave everyone we came in contact with.
Next thing I know I receive an email from the reservation entity that the restaurant claims the reservation was not honored on my part and that I didn't cancel, due to that I now have to prove that I was there to add insult to injury, after we were seated at the table, some people walked in and immediately were given the booth that was unoccupied when I requested it and was offered to "You can wait if you want" it's not just the phrase but the gesture of denial of something that's available and the way it was said, no explanation when I asked why we couldn't get it if it was available just that phrase the manager (I assume she was) told me, which I interpret as [either you wait, take what you're offered or leave] again it's not the words as actions speak louder than words, I ended up taking our food to go, as something came up and it was getting late to get to it, thanked and of course tipped the waitress whom was the only person to show us respect as customers and human beings.
Ribs weren't as good either, they didn't taste fresh nor as good as other times I had visited, I won't be going out of my way to visit this place again, nor do I plan to visit or...
Read moreWe stopped here based on the reviews, and this is a rare google maps L. The food is awful in spite of the reviews.
The staff couldn't have been better, this in no way reflects on them. Shout out to Channing who was awesome.
Continuing on to food:
General's cauliflower: We asked the waitress what was good and she recommended this, and said they even brought it back after customers complained when it was removed from the menu. 10/10.
My wife ordered ribs and crab cake, with baked beans and coleslaw.
Crab cake- OK. Full of shell bits, which makes enjoying it a challenge.
Baked beans- I have no words. Weird flavor while being overcooked to a gnarly texture that was somewhere between overcooked slimy and granular. NASTY.
Coleslaw- Excellent!
Ribs- I'd wager money on these being pre-cooked GFS reheats. Can't recommend the house sauce either. Really not good.
My Dinner was Surf and Turf, steak, crab cake, green beans and mac n' cheese.
Steak- It's taken me 40 years to figure out why people put A1 on steak. This nasty hunk of cow needed all the help it could get, even at medium rare. (I looked hard at the ketchup but there are somethings that are just not done). They do get credit for cooking it correctly.
Crab Cake- already covered.
Green beans. They were fine.
Mac and cheese- Noodles slathered in cheese that I assume came in a 5 gallon bucket. Think dollar store Velveeta. Weird slightly sweet flavor. Disgusting.
That's all. I don't enjoy giving a poor review, but this place is like a Texas Roadhouse in theme but without without decent food and a higher price point.
