update at the end* I shared my review on Facebook. The social media manager decided to laugh at my post. They have yet to cover the cost of the damage they caused. My first visit to the Guitar Shop was in June of 2023. I brought a guitar in for adjustment. I wanted to bigger strings. I became aware of the shop through a family friend. The owner entrusted my guitar to a “tech” who was unqualified to work on guitars. This person shaped a new saddle and did not pay attention to the pickup and crushed the dividers on the pickup. Over the course of 3 additional visits to the shop I continued to pay for the subsequent repairs needed all of which stem from the error made by the original technician. It was then that I decided to take my guitar to a professional Luthier to have it fixed properly due to the guitar shop’s experimentation with fixing my guitar. It took several months before I would visit the shop again. I bought instruments, musical gear, traded, and on occasion would acquire instruments for his business. We developed a rapport, but I never brought anything to be repaired again. In fact, due to the numerous failed attempts to fix my guitar I began learning to do maintenance, setups, and repair with the intention of never being in that situation again. However, working on instruments has become something I enjoy but I am not ready to open a shop and charge people to repair their instruments. The Guitar Shop has since improved their services and customer service as well as outsourcing their advanced repairs to a guitar technician that does excellent work. I, however, remain un-whole. I should not have paid for the subsequent repairs to repair their work, nor should I have had to pay for it to be properly repaired by a Luthier. To this day I don’t play it. Not because it was not repaired but because it is visible and reminds me of my failure to care for this instrument, and how gullible I was by trusting the owner of the Guitar Shop with my instrument. I posted a review on Google recently. I was confronted on it. I took down my review as a sign of good faith so we could discuss the issue. I was told by the social media manager that they no longer wish to do business with me. I visited the shop to try to make amends for not raising the issue of the failed repair yet again. The information conveyed by their social media manager far exceeded my review. I’ve now been told by the owner he does not want to see me anymore. He’s uninterested in making things right, so again I’ve been left with the financial burden of the shop’s failure. The owner is upset because I did not go to him for a 5th time and feels betrayed. I too feel betrayed. I was under the impression I was taking my guitar to a professional to be serviced. At this point taking my guitar to his shop has cost me $304. 35 for the first visit, 35 for the second, 50 for the third, 16 for elixir strings. 160 for the Luthier to install a pickup (which I purchased), carve an oversized saddle, and replace the nut. I had already purchased Martin traditional strings from the Guitar Shop for $8. Obviously, I’m not welcome at the shop. Further I regret ever visiting in the first place. The only way I’ll be made whole is in small claims court.
The following is my original post. I took a guitar there for repair. It was damaged and the owner never made it right. I had to take my guitar to a Luthier elsewhere to be fixed. I’ve traded and purchased there since. I would not recommend going there to have your instruments fixed. I’ve stopped going.
Update It took a long time, credit card statements, the receipt from the Luthier, and several months later we settled on an amount that covers most of the expense. A few months later we signed an agreement and I was paid for those damages. Increasing to 2 stars but I would still...
Read moreI have stopped her several times to kill some time as I travel through Titusville for work. I really don't leave reviews but was compelled. I have been playing guitar for over 40 years and worked as a tech for a national act , so I have some knowledge. After speaking to the 2 young guys that work there I realized that they are both beginner guitarist and have a very limited knowledge about guitars, that is all fine and good until I found out that they were working on customer instruments. I don't know if there is someone else working there but I definitely would not let anyone less than a experienced, professional tech or Luthier work on any of my guitars. The shop itself is small but pretty nice and selection is so so, a lot of cheaper guitars probably better for beginners. To sum up I guess a nice place to pick up strings and buy sell trade as long as you aren't looking for anything nice. But I absolutely wouldn't let those guys work on...
Read moreI bought this guitar from Guitar shop around a year or two ago and I absolutely love it! The workers there were very nice and told me everything I needed to know about the guitar like what they had to replace when they got it and even more than just that. You can tell they take care of the guitars there and are really excited to see people pursue their passion. The shop is very cute and cozy it's on the smaller side but it has plenty of room for guitars I definitely recommend buying guitars here and really anything you need for your guitar, they have a lot of cool guitar straps. I will definitely buy stuff...
