The Proper Pet — Local services in Tolland

My favorite pet store, nearest to home. They have a couple of the brands my cats CAN eat and WANT to eat. It's always a challenge to find appropriate food for my cats because of their poultry allergy. So, I've pretty much narrowed down choices to a select few. Proper Pets prices are fair, with different specials every time I pay them a visit. The girls that work there always check on me to see if I need any help, which is wonderful. The owner is lovely. She's always so kind. They know me well enough to know my name for a faster checkout process, plus it makes me feel good, knowing that they're so attentive. I enjoy shopping here as opposed to a big box store, where I am well taken care of. I feel it, and I know it.

☆☆UPDATE: 06/17/24☆☆ Just got home from stopping by Proper Pet to purchase some catfood. What a satisfying and relaxing experience! First, the kind owner peeked down the aisle, asking if I needed help. I replied I was "okay". Then, a bit later, a very kind and helpful young lady quietly approached me, asking if I needed anything, so I took her up on her offer, since I had been comfortably perusing the aisle in the calm, quiet and cool atmosphere for a while now. She made her suggestions and I chose the catfood I needed. She also reached down to the bottom shelf, near the floor, and grabbed the heavy bag for me (I have back issues) and carried it to the counter for me. They know me there, so without asking, she already had my rewards account pulled up and was able to cash me out with ease. ♡ I REALLY APPRECIATED♡ that she bent down to get the bag of food and also carried it to the counter for me.♡ (That was the MOST HELPFUL thing you did for me!) All-in-all, 110% happy customer!

I've been buying food for my dog here for the last several months and I am SO impressed. They asked if there was a variant of the food I'd be interested in them stocking and they started ordering it. Recently I've gone in and it hasn't been there. They recognized that I am one of the people buying that particular food and told me that it was being fazed out by the manufacturer. I was a little upset (not with them) because my dog hasn't adjusted well to any other food so they gave me some samples to try and offered to work with me to find an option that would work well for him. I just moved to the area and wanted to support a local pet company and stumbled upon The Proper Pet. The place is very nice, I love the setup and the staff are super friendly. I was greeted the moment I walked in. They have a lot, esp if you are looking for healthy holistic food for either dogs or cats. I brought my 4 month old Cane Corso puppy in with me. She's a wee bit feisty but she was greeted with treats and was calm afterwards.

I will definitely be coming here from now on for my pet care needs for both my dog and cat.
