My daughter and her friends have been going to the skating rink on the weekend nights for several weeks. I think that there are several things that need to be addressed. First, the line getting in is ridiculous and takes entirely too long... the ' kids " that work there are rude and SLOW !!!! There is NO EXCUSE for this. Management needs to get with it and either HIRE MORE PEOPLE TO WORK or HIRE competent people, have a better system for opening and moving the line as fast as possible or either open early so the line can MOVE ALONG. Everyone must pay CASH so there is NO EXCUSE that the line has to take 45 min. to a HOUR !!!! If skating is only 2 HOURS , then that only leaves the kids able to skate 1 HOUR. Also, make sure that you have enough FOOD , there is no excuse that you run out of food, really ? ..and that the ice rink monitors do THEIR JOB and keep kids from hanging on the rails and chatting while others may need to hang on to the rails AND also preventing these speed skaters from whipping in and out of everyone else. Since my daughter has been going, I have not seen 1 ADULT supervising the " teens " who work there............... no wonder the place is a mess. Also, could you PLEASE CLEAN THE RESTROOMS ... both of them !!!! ( inside & outside ) Whomever is managing this place needs some manager...
Read moreMany areas are in need of renovation, much of the the rink is the same as it was decades ago. Even fresh paint would help. We went for a Sunday afternoon open skate session. After waiting in line to pay, then another line for skates, then trying to find somewhere to SIT to put on the skates challenged the patience of two 13 year old boys, but we were FINALLY ready to start the fun stuff. ALMOST. The boys decided they wanted to rent one of the "walkers" many kids were using on the ice. In spite of waiting in yet another line to pay for one, and needing to leave your car keys as "a deposit," until you return it, it was well worth it. It really helped them to actually skate rather than SIT on the ice, lol. If one of them were not using it at the moment, I had to keep ahold of it because even then, someone would just walk up and take it. There were families with 4 or 5 children whose parents seemed unconcerned when their children were inconsiderate towards others. But overall, the boys had a good time, which made some of the agravation bearable. I would recommend GLOVES and wearing TWO...
Read moreThis place has so much potential, but its run by teenagers and painfully so. I dropped off skates to be sharpened last Thursday, when I arrived today to pick my skates up and public skate with my kids... the skates werent sharpened. The kid behind the counter had no clue what was going on and he mentioned the skates not being tagged & asked me to describe my skates!! He finally finds an adult who also asks me to describe my skates. When he finds them, they aren't sharpened and he needed to walk around and find someone capable. I said I wanted a refund for my inconvenience, given the fact that I just paid $45 to get on the ice with my family plus the $7 for the skates and the kid just stared at me and walked away. I never saw him again. The adult who Eventually got my skates sharpened never came to speak to me again or apologize for the problem.
The kids giving out skates are just staring at their phones and seem inconvenienced to be helping anyone. I did notice 2 different adults in their offices seemingly oblivious to anything happening around them. The place could use a responsible,...
