Just okay, good for the basics if you’re on a road trip and need simple vegan food.
I got the sweet chili tempeh bowl with the sauce on the side (because the sauce has a lot of sugar, which is to be expected with a name like that) they use Roland sweet chili sauce, 14 g sugar in 2 tbsp of sauce.
It was a nice shot of flavor with my fork dipped in, but it would have definitely been way too much if it was mixed in.
The tempeh itself is unflavored. Seems like it was just steamed and that’s it. Basic plain brown rice, plain black beans, small fresh mango pieces, half an avocado. (Honestly, by the name, I thought this was going to be a bowl of chili with tempeh in it)
The roasted veggies side dish were the highlight of the meal. Next time I’ll probably pass on the sauce and just use the roasted veggies as the flavor component for the tempeh bowl.
My husband got the avocado toast. He appreciated the three different flavor profiles of the different pieces.
This would be good for folks who are on a road trip and need a lower sodium meal to offset other restaurant foods they’ve eaten. (And without the sauce it’s lower sugar too.) but the price is a bit much if you’re close to home and have food there. This is too expensive for the simplicity/low effort of this bowl.
Oh!! Also, the vegan desserts weren’t gluten...
Read moreI'm just up here on travel, and was looking for a place to settle in for a little while and work. This place is a gem and having lived in the PNW and gotten to experience the coffee culture out there. This place definitely captures that vibe but literally 3000 miles away. I love the house specialty recipes which just shows the owners appreciation for the craft of creating different flavors using coffee. It goes well above and beyond the usual drab menu of "Lattes, Mochas, Cappuccino" that you see in other coffee shops where you can add a shot of Vanilla Torani Flavor Syrup and that's about as interesting as it gets.
The decor is artsy, and kind of rustic, but still cozy. There's a lot of art on the wall and it's weird, it's different, it's counter culture. It's got that vibe that I expect in a good coffee shop. That being said that vibe isn't necessarily REQUIRED of a good coffee shop but it just has a very cool vibe to it, as I said earlier, one that I haven't experienced out here so it was refreshing.
If you're looking for a unique coffee shop, with unique recipes, a friendly staff, and a truly PNW coffee shop vibe. Look no further.
Also the True Jersey, and the "poptart-like" pasteries...
Read moreI wanted to love this place and give it 5 stars! They had the cutest mugs and stickers for sale along with shirts and cards, cool candles. There was a huge selection of different coffees. I wanted to order a sandwich but was told it would be a half hour wait, I had to go to get my grocery shopping on, so I couldn't wait that long for an pork roll, egg and cheese. I got a sad, cold vegan muffin instead. It was decent dunked in my cappuccino though. The nice cashier offered me a free coffee for the future, which was a good gesture. My cappuccino was pretty great with the exception of my own heavy hand pouring on the cinnamon but again, my fault. My issue was that there was some commotion with another customer's order and the friendly girl at the front went to the back to speak to the cook about it and he proceeded to yell at her. Apparently he was 'the only chef' there but that doesn't excuse his behavior. I and the other clientele shouldn't be hearing him yelling at a coworker from the depths of the kitchen, its unprofessional. It's sunday, it's usually one of the busiest days for breakfast/lunch in my experience... get...
