Wheatfield Village — Local services in Topeka

It is a VERY clean & friendly place to meet up with friends, ONLY... and then go elsewhere to talk & hang out! Reason being, it has quite a "BONE COLD" feeling in the atmosphere inside, although it smells wonderful inside!!!

I had observed many (more than 4) company recruiters filling the majority of the seating areas as they confidently conducted quick 20 minute interviews. They had all simply found the same balance & comfort in the HARD edginess of the place!

Due to the COLD HEAVY industrial decor/design, the coziness that this area desperately needs, was stripped right outta here!!!

Regardless of proximity, it is a place you would NOT desire to stop during the winter months to grab a hot beverage and sit down to warm up... But to grab & GO!

I even saw a couple of college students with laptops, that had also chosen to leave! So it has the potential to one day be THAT cozy neighborhood place with free wifi!

You pay 1% extra tax on all goods and services in this "shopping district". The city council OK'd it as a "TIF" district in which the citizens subsidize the millionaires' development costs over the next 22 years. Movie Theater, Johnny's Tavern, Spin Pizza, they all charge an extra 1% tax that goes to the developers because apparently they don't have enough money as it is.

Do not shop here. Do not pay for the rich millionaires' development. These types of areas are not welcome in Topeka and our citizens should not be paying for it.

On top of that, Johnny's Tavern has terrible food, terrible services and terrible prices. You can get better service/food/prices many other places in Topeka without having to pay an extra...

Wheatfield is great. Spin has good pizza and great gelato, PTs has the best coffee in town and B+B is the best place to watch movies. BUT WHY IS THERE ONLY ONE ENTRANCE TO THE PARKING LOT? This was a terrible design choice. This is a large commercial area with a hotel and now apartments being built. One entrance and exit will only cause traffic difficulties.
