There was absolutely no one to be found for help at the time I walked in the door. So I wandered the aisles looking for anyone who could direct me to the item I was searching for as I continued to try to find the correct department in which to search. I browsed and found a couple of things I wasn't looking for then meandered to the front to see if there was even a cashier. There was one. She was waiting on the only other customer. As I stood at the front of the store waiting to ask her, a handful of employees emerged from somewhere and I asked a passing employee where to find what I was looking for. He said I should follow him as he was walking that way. He pointed out the shelf where the items were and when I tried to ask him some info about the different brands,sizing etc. He was very blunt and dismissive. This was a product I have never had to buy for myself so I knew nothing about how a different brand might suit my needs. I was told they were "all the same,and all the same size" and they were adjustable. As he tried to walk away again,I asked which he would suggest and he only then mentioned the brand that was currently on sale. Then he walked away. Read moreOn September 30, 2016, I went into Dick's Sporting Goods in Topsham, Maine to return a few items I bought a few days earlier. The return was easy and the clerk (didn't get her name) was very helpful. However, what I really what to write about is how the staff at Dick's in Topsham went above and beyond in terms of customer service. I had a security tag on a jacket I purchased at the Maine Mall in South Portland and I really did not want to drive all the way to the mall to have it removed (I live in the Augusta area). I showed the clerk at Dick's in Topsham my receipt (proof that I had, in fact, purchased the jacket) and asked if she could help me. Long story short, up to four employees were persistent in trying to get the security tag off for me. They didn't have to do that. It took almost 30 minutes! Jessica and Sandra from Dick's in Topsham were particularly helpful. They were cheerful and had a great sense of humor about it. And they were successful! Thanks again, for your excellent...
Read moreWe found an item on-line, just what we wanted. We drove a very long way out of our way to go to Dicks in Thompson to purchase this item. When we found the item, there were three different sizes and what was listed on-line was not the price of the one in the store. The on-line item we wanted had the exact measurements as the item we were going to buy (that was on-line) only to find that it was a higher price (we borrowed a measuring tape from an employee and measured) than stated on-line and a smaller sized item was priced as the on-line price. The ol' 'bait and switch'. Needless to say, our gas and time were waisted in this trip and has made us extremely dissatisfied customers. No more waisted time or efforts again.
