I am going to update my reviews… SightMD isn’t my choice anymore. Now I don’t have to wait each time when I have an appointment. My doctor spends time with me. He would explain and showing me the images of my eyes. I am very happy now. I knew if I needed any procedures done in the future, I would understand exactly what it has to be done and why I should make certain choices. I thought about what happened to me and I realized this has been how it worked in the US now. When all the doctors put their talents together; it became a corporation that had only produced profits in minds. This was why there would be a lot of front clerks, a lot of appointments overlap so no time wasted for the doctors; also meant patients had to wait for a long time to see their doctors, in addition, chargers would be more. The corporation is trying to be as efficient as possible to make money despite patient’s times and needs. Why do I need a place like this? I can go somewhere else, an individual eye care that has time for his patients.
This review is for the SightMD‘s office management. I am very disappointed after using their doctor/facility for years. I had cataract surgery on both eyes last year. I wish I knew a bit of how Insurance worked and how much it would cost me upfront. I guess I got used to be in the dental office, they always informed me how much out of pocket’s cost before doing any procedures. Originally the surgery supposed to be a traditional, but ”client service” called a few days before, pushing me into laser surgery. He told me how bad my eyes were, laser was the only choice and I was thinking my doctor didn’t say that! Anyway, I had to pay $3700 upfront for both eyes. I didn’t understand that amount was ONLY using the laser equipment for that couple of minutes. Later on the bills just kept coming, like anesthesia, the lens and SightMD bills…total of another $3150 after insurance paid $5200. I don’t know how on earth SightMD thinks about average retirees will have over $6200 cash laying around for a simple eye procedures? I wish someone could discuss the surgery procedures traditional and laser, the costs involved before the procedures. I wish the “client service”/SightMD management was not money hungry, had some compassion of the elderly! Wish is just a wish! I don’t know how other people did this, laying in the clinic bed waiting for the laser surgery with huge cash in their pockets to pay the bills… I was thinking of change doctor, not to use SightMD anymore. If the management don’t care about their patients, why shall I trust them...
Read moreI got a referral from my primary doctor for Ophthalmology and was recommended I go to SiteMD. I call the number on 8/26 and explained to reception my condition and was given an appointment with Dr. Bautista at their Harrison, NY location on 9/4 at 8am. Over the course of 8 days that followed, I received a text reminder on 8/28, which I did confirm on 9/3 at 10:19am. On 9/1 I also receive a call to voicemail again, confirming this appointment. On 9/4 while I am on my way driving 8.5 miles to my appointment I get a text at 7am that says "we look forward to seeing you at 8AM". I get to the door at 7:40am and no one is in sight! They finally open up the doors and ask me who I was there to see, yep, Dr. Bautista is the doctor. The girls at the front desk tell me upon my arrival that the doctor is not there and doesn't start until OCTOBER 1!!!!! Now I'm asking if there is another doctor there in the same exact profession that can squeeze me in, since they scheduled the appointment and it was their screw up for allowing a patient to drive all this way and the doctor had no plans to be there. Their solution was going to be, to let me see another doctor that could NOT help me and have me pay my co-pay to only have to schedule another appointment with the correct doctor a full month away and pay another co-pay! At the bottom of these texts and voicemails they send to patients, they make it very clear that if you need to cancel to do it 24 HOURS before your appointment time to avoid a $25.00 fee. BUT, they can let you get all the way to their facility and no one has an answer how it happened or what the resolution is for it. So THEY can leave you hanging and let you get all the way to the office, but if you did it to them they charge you a fee!! So their time is more important than the patients that skip or go to work late to be there?? Their practice is disgusting behavior and the customer service is horrible! I have no plan to schedule anything here in the future!!! You can tell from their faces and how the situation was handled that no one gives a damn here!
UPDATE: I just got the "you were not on my list to call" B S from Stephanie on my voicemail!! How was I getting texts and phone calls then from the office about my appointment if I was not on the list to call about the doctor not being there?? Read this out loud and see if this makes sense to you. HORRIBLE FIRST IMPRESSION..... I'm still waiting to collect my $25.00 cancellation fee from the...
Read moreThe only reason i am giving them 2 stars is because the doctors and her technician were amazing and kind and extremely helpful. However they use a 3rd party, outsourced place for their “call center” and they are the absolute WORST!!! I called in last week to get a cyst removed i was in a tremendous amount of pain . I gave all my insurance information and even asked if everything that was going to happen was covered….i want to be clear i used to be an eye technician for 8 years so i know what im asking for…. The man assured me it was all fine and im good to go for my appointment and everything is good with insurance even that a prior authorization would not be needed if i got a procedure done. I get to the doctors office and the staff was AMAZING!! Kind and the facility was clean and i was even seen EARLY for my appointment. But when the doctor evaluated me and agreed i needed it removed with a minor procedure, she said i would need to get a prior authorization and need to wait. Which blew my mind because i specifically asked these questions before i came in to avoid having to wait for this to be done. Thankfully the procedure only cost me $350 out of pocket so i said let’s just get it over with I’m in extreme pain. On the second day after the procedure i noticed tons of focusing issues and a lot of gunk around my eyes. I tried to call for the focusing issues and i kept being transferred to the messaging systems. I called for days and never got through to someone when they transferred me. Even have friends attempt to call for me to get in touch with literally anyone who could help me possibly get maybe an extra medication for the crusting and gunk around my eye and even for the focusing issues. Today it has officially been a week with no reply… so i called up and got nasty unfortunately which i HATE doing especially because the office was so kind but apparently it worked because i got through to someone who actually worked in the office. They told me they are leaving notes for 4 different people to help me resolve my issue and I hope i get a call back. Thank God, my situation wasn’t something way worse like a flash of light or floater which could have been a retinal detachment where I had lost my vision. But A WEEK for a response time… and having to be rude to some poor person over the phone is NOT the way someone should have to do things to get advice from there doctor !!!!! I guess that’s what happens when practices sell to corporate.patient care...
