Iāve lived down the block for over three years and Iāve stopped in here from time to time to buy incidentals, milk, eggs that sort of stuff. I was on the same errand on my way home from work tonight and with a bunch of bananas in my hands, someone, presumably from the storeās management stops me and says āno backpacks in the store.ā
I was flabbergasted because iāve been there before and never heard of anything like this except at airports and the like, so he repeated himself and I said ā...what?ā And he said āyour backpack,ā pointing to it, āyou canāt have it in the store.ā I was still very confused and said āwhat do you want me to do with it?ā And he said to leave it in the front of the store. I had already gotten my items and was on my way out. He said itās ok āthis timeā but to remember for the future. I assured him there wouldnāt be a future because thereās plenty of places to buy groceries.
Am I making a big deal? I really donāt think so, itās supposed to be a family spot. They have CCTV cameras everywhere, EBT rules on the registers and apparently now, a no backpack rule. Here comes the cliche white guy phrase - I pay a lot of money in taxes, I donāt need this. Stay clear and go to CVS across the street or thereās another meat market literally across the street as well. If you need anything more than that, go to a real grocery store. It wonāt be long before this bodega is selling āloosiesā and...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreWe catered a private party with your food. We opened the trays and the food looked fine. Then, 30 mins into serving, several guests approached us and said "the food was bland and without taste." There were 3 long hairs (blondish brown) in the penne alla vodka, peppers were dry tasting and "the sauce" in the chicken parm was bland. My thoughts: This might have been a one time "ooopsy", but food and the preparation of food is something guest want to enjoy, not get sick from. Word of mouth is still a very powerful tool..and the guests last night were all saying "the food is always good at Joe's" just not today. My advice - please do your very best to prepare, sell and guaranty quality tasting food from your kitchen. "Catered Food" can make or break a business; and during the busiest months of the summer...don't let your quality...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreNot a good experience. The inside looked dingy and dirty. It didn't appear to be upkept well. The deli section had a long line, which would indicate good food. However, they lacked the staff to take care of the customers. There were only two deli workers for a line of at least 10 people. The man behind the bakery had no customers but never came over to lend a helping hand. He just looked at the line of people but never helped. It took 45 minutes 2 get two sandwhiches and two dishes. The cashier was almost as slow as the deli counter with only one cashier. It took an additional 20 minutes to pay. The food was just okay, nothing great. Overall, unless you're starving and can't get food anywhere else, I would not shop there. P.S. The last isle where the losbster tank is located stunk, it...
