The Castle Furniture, Kitchens and Bath — Local services in Town of Babylon

After several years of shopping at The Castle Furniture (formerly Antique Recreactions) I’ve finally had enough of their lack of honesty and integrity.

My first negative experience was a few years ago when I was quoted $150 for a table repair. After they had my furniture I was told the owner was out of the country and was charged $350 - more than twice the agreed upon price.

But that’s mild compared to my most recent purchase which can only be categorized as outright thievery. The owner, Osama, and I agreed to, and my receipt reflects, the price of $1895 for a piece of furniture to be customized for use as a bathroom vanity. When I was notified it was ready I questioned how that was possible as I hadn’t provided the measurements for the modification to fit the plumbing under the sink. Osama became angry on the telephone and wanted $100 more to make the previously agreed to modification. Since I was a regular customer, and intended to continue that relationship, I agreed to the additional cost. Moreover, I wanted the modification done properly as this was a one of a kind piece and my contractor is not skilled in fine furniture repairs.

Well, the “bathroom vanity” was delivered this week as an unusable piece of furniture in its present condition. I’ll attempt to attach a photo that shows the back clearly blocking the path of any plumbing.

So while the delivery men were still present I telephoned Osama who became even angrier then the last time! His ridiculous response was to return the furniture that had MY sink installed in it! (Note: The original agreement was for him to provide the sink but I chose my own and never received any financial compensation for not using his)

After listening to his nasty rant on the telephone I assured Osama we would never do business again. Now I have no choice to pay someone else to do what he was twice paid for.

I can’t impress enough on unsuspecting customers to stay away from this disreputable business. Take a moment to sort the reviews and you will clearly see that all of the recent ones are negative. Total scammers!

Update to owner’s response: potential customers please see the annexed photos with original price $1,895, receipt with agreed upon modification and the item in the condition it was delivered.

Also, note all of the positive reviews that he arranged to post within hours of my negative review supports his lack of integrity. They were reported to Google to keep buyers...

Updated: My husband and I bought a bathroom vanity, vanity top, and linen closet from them. The quality of the vanity itself was nice. However, they sold us what they called a "semi-custom" vanity, and yet the vanity top (top with integrated sink) does not fit onto the vanity! The sinks do not line up and fall in the middle of a door and a drawer, so it could not be installed without cutting the cabinets. After arguing that we needed this to be rectified because we paid for a vanity that was unusable at the time, they finally agreed to send someone to come cut the base of the vanity. The worker they sent broke the vanity while cutting it. We asked for a replacement piece. They then delivered the wrong piece and had to send ANOTHER replacement. My father had to cut the vanity himself to ensure it was not broken again. The man I was speaking with constantly harassed my husband and I to take down this review. This is the updated review. I had high hopes that this business would be able to help me with the mirrored vanity desk I'd been trying to find for the last few months. I had ordered the desk from another online retailer only to have it arrive damaged twice. While Osama was helpful in ordering the piece for me, I ended up disappointed once again in the end. I inspected the piece at the store and it did not appear to have any damage, although the desk was not exactly the same design that I had requested. I can only surmise that the item was damaged when it was repackaged, because as soon as we got it home there was a ship in one of the mirrored panels. I tried writing to the owner about this but received no response. Now I am stuck with a chipped desk and am forced to try to find some way to hide the damage, as I can no longer afford to purchase a replacement. A very frustrating and deeply...
