THE DEPARTMENT OF HEALTH needs to close this business. Eat at your own risk!!
I went to Hi Bagel Deli and Grocery on July 17 2019 at 8:15am. I ordered a breakfast sandwich ( scramble egg on a roll with lettuce, onion, Swiss, mayo and turkey bacon) and a small tea. Although the sign indicates the breakfast is less during the time I purchased my meal, they charged me a ridiculous $8.13.
When I went to eat the sandwich, I noticed there was a sausage patty on the sandwich. I returned to the store and explained to the counter guy that the sandwich is incorrect. It has sausage on it and I cannot consume pork due to medical issues. He told me he will throw the sandwich away and the cook will be remaking another one.
He went in the back, returned to the counter and said, “ he is remaking it right now, it will be a few minutes”
From the counter, you cannot see the preparation area but you can see one grill and the cook preparing items near the door of the kitchen area. About 5 minutes later the cook gave a sandwich to the counter guy. Since I couldn’t see what was going on in the back, I asked the guy if he was sure this was a new sandwich. I reiterated the importance of not giving me the old sandwich with switched out meats and he reassured me and said yes, “I threw the other sandwich into the garbage”.
I proceeded to my car and opened my new sandwich only to find that it was the sandwich he said he threw into the garbage. The “new sandwich” that was “thrown into the garbage” now had the same sausage and new bacon on it.
I returned to the store of course and demanded a refund after I opened the sandwich at the counter and pulled it apart so they couldn’t resell it to someone else. The counter guy had no explanation of how I received a sandwich that was, “thrown in the garbage.”
How do you sell garbage to a customer and how do you not make the sandwich over when the customer tells you they cannot eat pork for health reasons.
I will not be surprised if they are selling contaminated food items and passing it on to their customers as freshly made. You don't know what you are really getting when you eat at Hi Bagel Deli and Grocery.
The department of health needs to investigate the practices here and close this business.
This store is a disgrace and no one should eat from there. They are dishonest, unprofessional and disgusting. They make other businesses in the food...

So stale they were crumbling all over us trying to eat them, there is so much competition around this place has no respect and again penny pinched their way I to another lost customer...
Read moreIt takes only 1 time for the helpers to overlook someone of another ethnicity waiting to be served and help their own (that look more like them) who walked in after me, to not give my money to this business any more. If she does it to more people you will loose more customers. Don't have a sign up where the line should form, if employees don't follow it. And I used to go to this business...
