WOW is all I can say about this unit. We decided to gut the entire first floor and create an open concept. A fireplace was not in the plan but my wife always wanted one and I wanted to make her happy. We went to Main Street Stove & Fireplace on another recommendation. I wanted one of those pretty burgundy stoves when I first entered the store but my wife was 100% in on a gas fireplace. I liked the gas idea but was wondering about the lack of heat a unit could produce. I grew up with a gas fireplace and it was nice for the show but not for the cold. We met with a very nice man, Jimmy is his name. He was very knowledgeable and showed us two different manufacturers, Heat and Glow and Mendota. We spent quite a long time going over and over the units. As a matter of fact we went back at least 3 times before locking in a Mendota Full View 46. Throughout the entire process Jimmy and Charlie were very helpful and I never felt pressured. What I received was an amazing gas fireplace that heats as good as it looks. As a matter of fact this I haven't turned on my heat in this area at all as we just use the fireplace now. For the installation I used MSS &F. Their recommended installer, Tim was polite, professional and we were very satisfied with him. Main Street Stove and Fireplace ordered some extra pipe for the install because this was a tricky one and they assured me that whatever isn't used I will receive back. We had a small hiccup in the final set up. One of the panels from the factory was a little off. Carl the fireplace set up guy noticed it and had MSS & F order a replacement right away. You can tell a good company when something needs to be addressed and they just do it. I am glad I want to a reputable company and didn't try a fly by night store or the internet. Service is so important and MSS & F was there without me even having to do anything. Once the job was completed I received a check for the pipe that wasn't used very promptly. Since I am still in construction the wall around it the fireplace just received the layer of durock so my mason can put travertine stone on all three sides. We also purchased a Magra Mantle because it looks like wood but can be mounted closer to the unit. I can't wait for the stone to be completed but I wanted to put a picture up for everyone to see in case your looking for a big heat producer. My wife and I absolutely love this fireplace. The entire process went smoothly and I would not hesitate to recommend Main Street Stove and Fireplace. Make sure...
Read moreAfter doing extensive research I decided to give Main Street Stove & Fireplace in Patchogue a visit. Upon my first visit my wife and I were greeted right away and the gentleman Jim was very helpful. We decided to go home and talk over it. We went back a week later and spoke with Jim again and this time we found the stove my wife and I both liked. He wasn't your typical salesman trying to sell you the most expensive items in the store. He gave us recommendations throughout the entire process. I am now waiting for the site inspection for pipe measurements, etc. I will update as progress is made.
Update 2/23/17: The stove was installed on 2/14/17. Unfortunately we could not go straight up with the stove pipe due to it landing in a valley on the roof, so they installed a 45 to offset the pipe. Jim mentioned this to us when we were buying the stove. We actually like it as it added some character. The installers were good, they drilled a pilot hole to determine if we could go straight up with the pipe and the caulked the hole on the roof, but did not spackle the hole on the ceiling. They also left some garbage on the roof (caulking plastic caps, some shingle debris). Other then what was mentioned they did a great job. My wife and I love our Quadrafire. We were paying about $400-$500 a month in heating costs to keep our home at 64 degrees. Now our home is 75 degrees and the heat has not turned on. Thank you Jim and Main Street Stove...
Read moreWe bought a wood burning insert from Main Street. Our salesman Jim was low pressure and had good knowledge of the product. We chose the Hearthstone Clydesdale, and the price was the best we could find for Long Island and they have it IN STOCK. The contractor is Tim from Diamond Cut, and he contacted us quickly and came over to measure the fireplace within a day or two. We should have it installed in a week or so and I will let you know how that goes. As of now I think Main Street has gone above and beyond to make sure I'm a happy customer.
March 27
We were having a lot more smoke than ever before. I Called Main Street and spoke with Jamie. She was friendly and proactive. Karl came out to our house that afternoon and spent about 45 mins with us and going over the insert. He felt we should have the chimney swept and that would take care of everything. He even arranged to have it swept, I didn't have the hassle of trying to find someone. LONG story short, chimney swept and the insert is burning like the day we got it. These guys get 5...
